Why 2017 Is the Year to Stop Wearing "Joggers"
Whenever I spot a pair of joggers (read: sweatpants with trendy name), they act as magnet, drawing me toward them, begging me to check them out. "Please buy me," they'll silently plead. "You'll wear me on your laziest days, and despite the fact that I'm unflattering and pair well with zero pairs of shoes, you'll try your hardest to make me work, possibly with a blazer or button-down."
But for 2017, I'm saying goodbye. I don't care what material you come in, joggers — velvet, denim, freakin' cashmere. I've moved on. I've found other options that are just as comfy, ones that will elongate my legs, hug my curves, and make my butt look great, aka all the things you never do. Scroll through if you, too, would like to quit this addicting but ultimately not-that-great pants trend, and discover what to wear instead.
Breezy but structured, comfy but sleek — there's a lot to love about this pants style which puts your ankles on display and elongates those legs. A velvet pair will be right on trend yet also feel like loungewear, making them a win-win.
The trick here is to find an option without elastic at the ankle, which will cut you off and make your legs seem a bit . . . stumpy. The good news? There are a ton of silky luxe options out there which pair perfectly with heels and ruffled tops.
While we're starting to stray away from boyfriend jeans, we still love a slightly loose and breezy pair of denim, and that's where cropped pants come in. They're elevated and not too binding at the same time, plus they're a hit with the fashion crowd.
