How the Kardashians' Style Has Evolved Since Keeping Up With the Kardashians First Aired

Apr 8 2021 - 2:24pm

With Keeping Up With the Kardashians coming to an end [1], we thought it would be a great time to take look back at the first famous family of reality TV's fashion has evolved over the years. The show first premiered in 2007 on E! and is coming to an end this year [2] after a total of 20 seasons! While this is definitely the end of an era for most, it does make sense that the Kardashians are taking a step back as Kim is going to law school [3], Kourtney is busy with her website Poosh, Khloé is focusing on her denim line Good American [4], Kylie is creating a beauty empire [5], and Kendall is dominating the runways [6]. Nonetheless, it's been intriguing to see how their style has changed over the years.

We're taking a look back at some of their most memorable fashion moments ranging from bandage dresses and bubble skirts to Yeezy and couture. One thing that hasn't changed over the years? The family's penchant for wearing body-hugging looks [7]. Keep reading and keep up (that's the last time I'll use that pun, I promise) with the Kardashians' style ahead.

2007

At the 2007 premiere of the series, we first get a glimpse of the family's style. Kim wore a purple minidress with a plunging neckline while Kourtney and Khloé opted for black and white looks. Let's not also forget to mention a little Kendall and Kylie who wore adorable minidresses as well.

2008

The family definitely loved their animal-print! We don't know which outfit feels more early '00s — Kylie's sparkly vest or Kourtney's leggings?

2009

In 2009, the Kardashians' wardrobe got a bit edgier. Think lots of black, leather, and body-hugging skirts.

2010

2010 was the year of the formfitting dresses and miniskirts for both the Jenners and the Kardashians. Kendall and Kylie also started showing up to red carpet events wearing coordinating looks with their older sisters.

2011

Like we said earlier, the family sure loves cheetah-print and that's one thing that didn't change for a while. Even momager Kris Jenner matched her daughters on the red carpet.

2012

We love that Kim and Kourtney both opted for dainty white tops with full skirts while both Kendall and Kylie opted for slinky minidresses. (PS: This was right before the famous Kanye West [9] makeover.)

2013

By 2013, Kim had got her first invite to fashion's most exclusive event of the year: the Met Gala. This also marked the year that she wore this infamous floral Givenchy dress [10] and gloves while being pregnant with her first child.

2013

2013 was also the year of asymmetrical cutouts, leather outfits, and strappy sandals.

2014

By 2014, Kendall and Kylie were making names for themselves and also became familiar faces on the red carpet. This was also the year where Balmain reigned supreme [11] in Kim Kardashian [12]'s closet.

2014

2014 was also the year where the family received an invitation to Elton John's Oscar party wearing gowns with plunging necklines and pantsuits.

2015

In 2015, we saw the rise of Yeezy as it was when Kanye released his first collection. Obviously, the pieces made it into the closet of each family member — North included [13]!

2016

By 2016, the family was into bodysuits, fuzzy coats, beaded designer pieces, and, of course, more Yeezy.

2017

By 2017, Kim started to opt for a more refined look like this sexy suit.

2017

On the other hand, Kylie took a sexier approach in 2017. Just look at her custom Versace Met Gala [14] look!

2017

And let's not forget about Kendall's 2017 Met Gala La Perla dress [15] which was daring, to say the least.

2018

By 2018, each of the Kardashian/Jenners had carved out their own personal styles as you can see from this image at Business of Fashion's "Age of Influence" party.

2019

In 2019, we saw the whole family go ultra-glam with their custom designer ensembles. How could we forget Kendall and Kylie's feathered looks [16] or Kim's dripping Mugler outfit [17]?

2020

While 2020 might not have included many red carpets, that didn't stop the family from continuing to serve up looks, like these head-to-toe latex outfits. KUWTK viewers got a hilarious look at how hard it was for Kim to get into this Balmain outfit before the show [18].
