Why We Love Them: New Balance is teaming up with a fashion favorite for its latest designer collaboration: Staud. After its successful collab with New York designer Aimé Leon Dore [1], New Balance is back for another round. Designer Sarah Staudinger [2], who is a 2019 CFDA Fashion Award nominee, has teamed up with the sportswear brand for an activewear line and a pair of sneakers than stole our attention. Along with track pants, leggings, and sports bra, Staud also created a new version of New Balance's classic 997 sneaker, and it's perfect for the summer.
Staud gave the retro sneakers a colorful makeover that stays true to the brand's DNA. The colorful sneakers come in a variety of vibrant hues like orange, yellow, green, and blue. Sarah told Vogue that her muses for the project included Princess Diana in her gym clothes [3] and Susan Sarandon wearing New Balance sneakers in Cannes back in 1978.
