Why we love them: It's hard not to immediately think of Hugh Hefner in silky pajamas and smoking slippers when the latter is mentioned. But, with the season's onslaught of plays on the old-school shoe, it's safe to say the smoking slipper has taken on a new life. They're part luxe loungewear and part masculine cool, and we're loving the embossed velvet versions, cap-toe renditions, and quirky printed slippers best. Plus, after spotting Jordana Brewster and Carey Mulligan in Tory Burch's fox-embellished iteration, we want a pair of our own.
How to wear them: While wearing them with jeans is totally fine, we think the fun is in how versatile these smoking slippers happen to be. Style them with wool trousers for work, try them on with a darker paisley-printed dress, or offset a silky wide-leg pant for that upscale "just woke up" look.
