One of the most fashionable events of the summer, the Veuve Clicquot [1] Polo Classic draws guests from around the world to Liberty State Park in New Jersey for a champagne-filled soiree. For a day spent watching a polo match, sipping champagne, and mingling with friends, attendees dress to the nines. The dress code is all about effortless sophistication: day dresses teamed with wedges or chunky heels (for walking in the grass), topped with an ornate hat or fascinator. The biggest sunglasses trends [2] are on full display, from angular shapes to stark white hues. And the color palette is fit for a garden wedding, with guests stepping out in popular summer colors [3] like Barbie-core pink [4], butter yellow, and vibrant green.
The menswear looks run the gamut from polo shirts and cargo shorts, to pastel 3-piece suits worn with aviator sunglasses. The Instagram-friendly gathering includes plenty of backdrops for guests to pose in front of, including floral arrangements in the Rose Garden and the famed step-and-repeat in the VIP section.
For the Jersey City-based event on Saturday, June 3, the well-dressed crowd included some of today's biggest celebrities. Simone Ashley attended in a chic green micro minidress and studded gold flats; Emma Stone [5] embraced a pastel color palette with a pale yellow top, white miniskirt, and matching chunky heels; and Danai Gurira wowed in an Off-White orange strapless dress with pleating along the hem and neckline.
