If you're going on a trip to Miami, first of all, have fun. The city is like no other in America and is a sort of tropical playground where you can really choose your own adventure. Whether you love swimming and spending time at the beach, exploring new cultures and looking at art, doing something active, or going out to some of the best restaurants and clubs around, you can find it all in Miami. Plus, the weather's almost always perfect, save for an occasional rainstorm here and there. But it can be challenging to determine what to wear in Miami — and the short answer is it depends on many factors.

When I went on a weekend trip to the warm-weather destination, I made sure to pack for several different occasions, from casual to formal. I was able to plan my entire trip using the beta version of Booking.com's AI Trip Planner — including booking my flight and building my itinerary — and the process was super seamless. For my JetBlue flight, I brought an effortless, comfortable Free People set that I could also launder and wear around my rental home. Later, we checked out the famed Versace mansion for lunch at Gianni's Restaurant in the Villa Casa Casuarina. On top of the rich history and the gorgeous decor, Gianni's served up delicious Mediterranean food we were raving about for days. For that outing, I wore a breezy Versace blouse paired with a straw hat.

Whether you're going on a weekend with friends, headed for some summer R&R, or going to a bachelorette party, you'll need a few wardrobe staples for a Miami trip. If we were helping to pack your suitcase, keep scrolling to see what you should bring.
