After landing a complicated vault in her last rotation during the US Olympic team trials, McKayla secured her spot to head to London. Although the 16-year-old's favorite event is the floor routine since it allows for self-expression, the difficulty level of her vault adds significant value to the team's possible overall score in London. Unfortunately, McKayla is suffering from a broken toe, which she hopes will not affect her performance.
McKayla will be competing in vault in the team competition. She also qualified to compete for an individual medal in vault on Aug. 5.
