After Years of Struggling, Here's How I Finally Learned to Do Push-Ups

Anna Paquin Talks to Self Magazine About Being Happy With Weight

Are You Happy With Your Weight?

When asked if she was happy with her weight, Anna Paquin told Self:

"I don't know too many women who are 100 percent happy, but I'm the happiest I've been. For me, it has more to do with being fulfilled in other areas of life, not how many hours I'm at the gym. If you're not happy in other areas of your life, you're not going to be happy with the way you look."

I'm wondering . . .

I used to be obsessed about the number on my scale and weighed myself every I never do, and just trust the mirror and my clothes. I workout every day, strength train 3 x a week, and feel much better about myself. I have learned that women's weight can fluctuate up to 5 pounds or so weekly, depending on water retention, I don't worry about it! It's a lot better to look at yourself in the mirror and be happy with what you see rather than obsessing over a number on a scale. And if you don't like what you see, take steps to becoming healthier. Remember to appreciate who YOU are and not how much the scale reads!

I have good days and bad days. I've recently gained a bit of weight, but am told I look the best Ive ever looked (I was a bit underweight before). I've also muscled up quite a bit from exercise, so Im definitely more toned, however I hate that some of my clothes feel tighter.

Some days I feel comfortable as a size 12, some days I wish it were easier to get rid of these last few pounds. In general, I feel glad that I am so active and feel so much better that I don't weigh 250+ pounds anymore!

you people are rediculous! "Oh! I'm 105 but I REALLY want to be 103", oh the HORROR of it all! jeez... whats a couple of stupid pounds? I dont like my weight, but I love the way my body looks. The scale weight alone would never match up to the way I look, but going to the gym and all the power pallates classes do wonders for looking slim and toned. I have a tight beautiful figure, and I try not to weigh myself a whole lot cuz muscle weighs alot more then fat. I would rather be strong and toned then thin and all jiggly in all the wrong places. Do you know how many girls I've seen with thin legs and arms trying to sqeeze their big fat bellies into size 4 pants? Way too many, its gross, so so gross. throw out the scale, hit the gym and work it till you like what you see....thats all!

I happy now, I gained 20lbs during first 2 yrs of law school and changed my eating habits and dropped 30lbs during the third year so now I feel like I'm at a great weight. Sure some days I wake up and I want to be 10lbs thinner still (but if I am being honest, I would look wayyy too skinny 10lbs thinner, I'm already a size 2) but hey, we all have those days. What I'm not happy with is my tone - after losing weight, there are too many soft spots that need some serious weight training.

I'm not happy but I'm trying to do something about it. I have found a new love in running!

I'm happy with my weight most of the time...right around 104. When I was distance running (70 miles a week or so) I weighed about 97 and that was too thin because I wasn't menstruating. Now I'm a little bit softer and I still have a great figure. The only times I'm not happy with my weight are the days when I eat too much salt and feel bloated.

I am 6ft and 145 lbs. I am happy with my weight most days but would prefer to be back down to 140 lbs.

I'm 5ft 4 120lbs and that's a healthy size for me. I have an active job so I really don't have the need to exercise. I can lose or gain weight depending on time of year. Winter I eat more heartier meals and summer my body doesn't require as much food.

I'm trying to be happy with my current weight (117 lbs, 5'3"). I prefer being below 115 lbs, and being able to see my muscles, but it's hard for me to maintain that lower level of body fat without feeling ravenous all the time.

i'm less about the weight and more about bmi. my main goal is to get out of "overweight" and into the "normal" range. beyond that, if i could also get my butt and thighs into a size 10 pant, i'd be stoked!

I don't weigh myself often but am happy with the weight I am at. I'm just working at toning arms and such, otherwise genuinely happy with my body :)

Most definitely happy. I also agree with Anna's quote.

I don't know my weight. The last time I was weighed was in my doctor's office for my annual check-up last year. Truthfully, when it comes to my weight, I was (and still) indifferent about it. I am content with my body, though. I feel great; I'm healthy and fit, and I get to wear the clothes I like. THAT'S what's important to me, not what number is on the scale.

No, I'm not. I am 20 pounds underweight. I've been trying to gain weight with no luck.

I originally was not happy with my weight, but after six months of working out I am finally pleased with it. I'm still working on it, and tweaking it, but I'm proud of the progress. =)

I've gained 10 pounds in the last year and it's killing me. I'm trying to get pregnant and starting IVF so everyone tells me not to lose weight. I was on the skinny side of normal and now I'm on the chubby side of normal. I hate wearing jeans because I get muffin top in the back and try not to get jealous of all the skinny young people I work with. I constantly feel sloppy. I've taken so many fertility drugs in the last year that I honestly don't know if I started eating more or if the drugs just screwed me up, and I had to turn in my 5 mile runs for 5 miles of walking on an incline. Grrr, the things we do for what's important.

i guess this doesn't really apply to me since I'm 20 weeks pregnant. I've gained 10 pounds so far. I was 145 at 5'8 before pregnancy. Was I happy with that? Noooo. The lowest I've ever been is 115 but that was sickly skinny. I like my weight at 128. I hope to somehow get there after I have this baby. I think about it all the time......:(

I'm happy with my weight now, I recently lost 30 lbs. Not quite to my high school/college weight but closer than I've been in years. Now, just have to finish toning my body.
