Basil Gimlet

Adapted from Via Matta in Boston


  1. 4-5 large basil leaves
    1/2 ounce agave nectar or simple syrup
    3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
    2 1/2 ounces shochu


  1. In a mixing glass or cocktail shaker, muddle the basil leaves with the sweetener of your choice.
  2. Fill glass three-quarters of the way with ice cubes. Add the alcohol and lime juice and shake well.
  3. Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with the remaining basil leaf.

Makes 1 drink.
