Eating while training for a marathon is (unfortunately) not all about carbo-loading, which is why I'm so excited about The Runner's World Cookbook ($27). Featuring 150 recipes from the magazine, this cookbook was made for busy runners who want to eat for energy and health. I particularly appreciate how each recipe is categorized prominently at the top, so you can flip through and quickly identify which recipes are best for pre-workout, recovery, or fast preparation. Each recipe is also categorized by dietary restrictions like low-calorie, gluten-free, or vegan. Plus, the recipes are creative and delicious, like spiced breakfast quinoa, which is great before a morning run, or garlic shrimp with white beans and tomatoes, which makes for a quick recovery dinner after a weeknight run. When it comes to training for a marathon, what you eat can help or hinder your performance, so I'll no doubt be referencing this cookbook for every race.
