If you used to love running and now the sight of your sneakers makes you want to hide, it is time to switch up your fitness routine. Cross training is a great way to beat boredom and overuse injuries.

If you're sick of pounding the pavement and running solo, try a group indoor cycling class for three reasons. One, biking balances out the legs, since it targets the quads, and running tends to work the hamstrings more. Strong quads will help prevent overuse injuries like runner's knee. Secondly, a group class situation is so different from solitary running. You don't have to motivate yourself and set paces; the instructor does that all for you. Lastly, biking is a joint-friendly form of cardio that will still get your heart pumping without banging your joints around.

I love spinning and running!! For those of you that were complaining of butt pain during/after spinning, you should try a gel seat cover or gel padded bike shorts. You should give spinning a second try because it is a GREAT workout!!

I love spin class! I also had the sore butt problem the first few times I went, but after a few classes - no more issues! Stick with it, and you'll be fine! It's a great workout.

i sat on a spin bike once and my butt hurt a LOT and i had to get off i ride a road bike and it doesn't hurt...maybe i need to wear my padded shorts to the gym, i don't know

ugh, I have tried spinning and just cannot get into it... I get bruises in places that should NOT be bruised!
