This is just what I was looking for! I'm just starting training for the Breast Cancer 3Day, which is a 60 mile walk over three days, and I am planning to make my dog my training partner. There is tons of info out there about how to take care of myself while walking but not so much for my pup and I would hate to push her too hard. I'm going to talk to my vet as well, but does anyone know of any other online resources about this topic?

I really enjoy walking my dog. He's also the only reason any of our neighbors have started talking to us! Some dog experts also say that walking with your dog helps make them behave better indoors--they won't have tons of excess energy, and walking with a leash will give them the idea that you are the boss.

I'm still breaking my puppy into walking, so burning mundo calories on a walk around the block isn't happening. We don't walk, per se. One of us takes a few steps, pulls on the leash, sits down, rolls over and lies there looking cute. Sometimes the dog does it too. Walking is a great exercise, wasn't it named one of the best exercises you could ever do?
