Cranberry Chocolate Chia Cookies

Guilt-Free Chocolate Chia Cookies Are Just What You Need This Holiday Season

The following post was originally featured on Hummusapien and written by Alexis Joseph, MS, RD, LD, who is part of POPSUGAR Select Fitness.

All I want for Hanukkah is a giant platter of these cookies on repeat.

And maybe another really cute infinity scarf. Oh and a shiny new KitchenAid stand mixer. Ok fine, I wouldn't be that mad if a Vitamix showed up, either.

Is it weird that when I think of the holidays, only cooking-related gadgets and gizmos come to mind? And when I think about owning a house someday, I think about nothing but a gigantic white kitchen with a super organized pantry full of labeled mason jars? But really, the rest of my house can be a shack as long as I have a fantastical kitchen.

I used to want boots and earrings and sweaters and now all I want is the smell of new cookbooks and blenders.

The holidays are a time for cookies. All the cookies. Making cookies out of nut butter is nothing new (hello food trend of 2014), but I'm still far from sick of them. The nut butter creates a softer, more delicate cookie full of robust flavor and free of all those extra refined carbies. Ever since my boyfriend gave up added sugar like his pal Lebron, I've been messing with my recipes to ditch the sugar without abandoning the flavor. I've learned that super ripe bananas and a bit of stevia are my best friends. Every time I make a dessert without added sugar, I wonder why I even add sugar to my recipes at all. There are quite a few ways around it!

Now don't get me wrong, I'll be eating my weight in pumpkin pie and Christmas cookies this holiday season. But when you're up to your ears in holiday sugar, it's nice to take a step back and play around without healthifying the classics.

Cheers to eating cookies that are like totally good for you.
