Did You Eat Breakfast This Morning?

Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. Without it your metabolism slows down, which is bad for weight loss and maintaining weight, and your level of concentration wanes. Even if you're not concerned about weight, it has been found that athletes who skip breakfast don't train as effectively. This week on FitSugar we are all about food journaling (here's our printable food journal), and this simple poll is to help get you in the habit of thinking about your meals. So tell me . . .

I alternate between eggs with wheat toast, and a collagen mango lassi. The lassi is made with frozen mango chunks (Trader Joe's), a cup of Fage yogurt, a cup of water, and a scoop of Neocell Collagen Sport (good for skin and 30 grams protein)

Was running late today! Mixed up 3/4cup 2% milk, 1 scoop chocolate whey protein powder, some black coffee & 1/2 cup of Arctic Zero Ice Cream for an excellent protein shake! If anyone hasn't tried Arctic Zero it's AMAZING! It reads just like a whey protein powder... they use monk fruit instead of sugar to sweeten it, and it's gluten free. My favorite flavor is the Vanilla Maple :) Oh, and I grabbed a 90cal Fiber 1 bar I will probably be snacking on in a bit!

2 cinnamon buns, 5 pieces of sausage and my first of many cups of tea for the day. I drink nothing but tea except for the occassional root beer and of course, water.

I always get griped at for this, but I never eat breakfast. I've tried over the years, but it never goes well. I was born with a kidney disorder, so I think that might have a lot to do with it. I can even eat foods that don't bother me any other time of the day, but if I eat in the morning after I've woken up, I get PAINFULLY bloated and gassy for the rest of the day. I have a really flat stomach, and I'll literally get so bloated that I look like I'm smuggling a beach ball under my shirt I'm so bloated. That pain makes work impossible, as my job requires that I constantly keep moving. I know everyone thinks I'm crazy, but breakfast just isn't for me.

I just started trying to eat breakfast (and lunch, frankly) more regularly in an effort to take control of my metabolism.... 10+ years of eating one large (and full of refined carbs!) meal at night has made it extremely difficult for me to lose weight and keep it off. Though I am so close to goal weight, I still have areas that are holding on to the flab, and because I am so vigilant with my workouts I'm pretty sure I can blame this on my diet and eating habits. My breakfast today was blueberries with plain yogurt and some All-Bran... its growing on me.
