OK so winter is approaching and the squirrels are all stockpiling their nuts. Do you feel like you're stockpiling your calories too?
Winter foods can be packed with way more calories and fat than their summer counterparts. For example think about warmed creamed spinach vs. a cool mango salsa. No contest, the creamed spinach has way more calories.
Desserts are no different. In the summer my friends and I would sit by the pool and eat Fudgsicles (sugar free ones too) and in the winter, after going skiing, we all would eat double hot fudge sundaes back in the lodge. Now I know that a Fudgsicle is way less in calories and fat but eating a Fudgsicle in the winter just seems wrong so I need something to meet the demanding needs of my sweet tooth.
A good compromise: Chocolate Pudding Pie using a pre-made pie graham cracker pie crust and Jell-O's Sugar Free, Fat Free Chocolate Pudding and for extra oomph, add lite Cool Whip to the top. This dessert is a great compromise between the two but way less in calories than a hot fudge sundae.
Fit's Tip: Pressed for time? If you don't have the time (or the patience to cook) Jell-O has sugar free, fat free pudding (4) packs that you can buy at any grocery store. Just open them up and pour into the crust. If you're cooking, add a few scoops of chocolate protein powder to the pudding mix to up your protein intake.
