Do You Work Out on Holidays?

Today being Memorial Day, most of us have the day off. Holidays provide a little extra free time in busy schedules, so I'm wondering if exercise fits into the equation for you. Tell me . . .

Whenever I work out on a holiday I feel like I've done it all. People look at you with glaring eyes and secretly despise you for having worked out in the morning before you sit down to your breakfast. They look at you over their coffee cups and newspapers and wonder how you did it. The nicest time to do that kind of thing is in a big hotel in Vegas or Napa Valley or something like that. A situation where they have a spa and you have the time and energy. Not a holiday in Rome where you will be walking all day. You should do whatever suits your time and your money. If you need to relax, just relax then.

I work out on most holidays, except when we're spending the night with my parents or my inlaws...usually Christmas or New Year's Day.

Yes definitely. The only holiday I usually don't is Christmas... I'd rather be relaxing and enjoying it all. It typically doesn't make a difference for me though, even on Thanksgiving I don't overeat or anything but I still try to stay active anyway.

Yes because I rarely even celebrate ANY holiday...even my birthday, lol

It depends on the holiday for me. If it's during the summer, I'm definitely swimming!

I taught today and I have to say the club was PACKED! So plenty are working out. (I taught a bootcamp, btw)

you never get a vacation from your body - so even on holidays i try to do something active if i can't work out.

I WISH I could...unfortunately, whether I like it or not, today is my rest day. The gym is closed...too hot outside to pool...woe is me!

Depends on where I am and what else I'm responsible for/have to do. If I have to help cook or set up for an event on a holiday, then I probably won't have any time. Today I did, because everything's already prepared and we're not going to or having a party for Memorial Day. So I got up early and took a run/walk. Kind of upset b/c I couldn't run as far as I had last Wednesday. :(

I went to the gym this morning and am now enjoying a latte so it's a nice change of pace. Most mornings are rushing after the gym. The gym was more crowded than on a Sunday but not as busy as a weekday.

The only Holiday I don't workout on is Christmas (and Easter but that's always on a Sunday and I rarely workout on Sundays anyway).

Was about to go to the gym but decided not to. Going to the gym on a holiday is great because depending on the holiday the place is like a ghost town.

Yup, if I have a run scheduled, I go run. Even Christmas, New Years whatever, even if it's -10 out (I live in the midwest so that's a temperature we see). I like running/working out on holidays because then I feel better about eating. That being said Memorial day (and most other holidays other than thanksgiving and christmas) don't seem like holidays, just excuses for most people to take off work.

I would have worked out this morning, but I have too much to do to get ready for people to come over. Does vacuuming count? What about making pie?

Had a fantastic workout this morning!!! When I don't have to go to work, I like to use the extra time to get in a longer workout...get in some of those exercises I don't always have time to do on a regular basis. I feel great!

It really depends... I normally work out whenever I feel like it, which is generally 3-4 times a week (i'll go for a 45min-an hour walk, or swim) This memorial day I'll be running around cleaning a lot, so I probably won't be working out (in a traditional sense).

The only holiday I don't workout on is Christmas, and that is because I go up north to the cold. Other than that I love working out on holidays.
