Do You Work Out to Music You Wouldn't Otherwise Listen To?

Bjork has a song on her album Homogenic titled "Pluto" where she really screams. Or rather moans loudly, repeatedly. It feels like heavy electronica to me, which is not my fave. Although I love the Icelandic singer, I hate that song . . . that is, unless I'm running. Then I love it. The song makes me run harder and I appreciate the inspiration.

Yes, definitely! I listen to Lady Gaga and Eminem and the like while working out, but at home I prefer more mid-'90s alternative rock.

yes, but that's the music in the gym. i never have anything i don't like on my player. i like lose yourself by eminem to push through those last few minutes of sprinting, but i don't really listen to it otherwise.

it's the other way around with me. When I'm working out I can't stand listening to Punk Rock, which is my usual ear candy. I blast techno or metal instead.

my workout playlist is mostly techno or fast paced music I normally wouldn't listen to. It keeps me from slowing down when I really want to.

I would never listen to Eminem when i'm not in my running shoes. but when i'm in them, i would wait for Lose Yourself and push myself hard during the chorus.

Funny, just today I was looking at my friends blog and he had some Prodigy music posted and I listened to it and thought this is horribly aggressive and angry - it would be great to run to! If I were driving in my car and it came on though I would immediately skip it.

Lately I haven't been listening to music during workouts, but before I definitely listened to songs that I would most likely not play in my car or at home. Although, the other day during my spin class my instructor played the song Climb and I thought it was a cool pick for the class because we were doing "a hill" and when I asked her who was singing and when she said Miley Cyrus I was shocked. Ha!

I normally don't listen to Techno or hip-hop, but I really love some of those songs when I'm working out. Same with Britney Spears...I normally can't stand her, but she is pretty great to work out to.

I'm a total head-banger normally, but I love hip hop and rap while I'm lifting... totally would never admit that at home! :-) Gotta love a good beat and intense sounds to move the big kid weights around.

NIN song about f-king you kike an animal is called "Closer". That song makes me work out extremely hard.

I also listen to Britney a lot in the gym. Lots of different remixes too - pretty much anything with a good beat!

Working out is one of the only times of the day I get to listen to music, so I only play songs I would normally listen to. I have been going to the gym for so long, I know I am going to get through the routine regardless of the music.

Yes - I listen to Britney, Madonna, Black Eye Peas and Lady Gaga when working out. I generally hate their music but it's perfect for getting me moving. I just try and ignore the the lyrics (esp. Gaga). Also there is a NIN song (about "doing" you like an animal) that my husband makes fun of me for having on my Ipod but I LOVE to lift weights to it.

I was taking a spin class and Britney Spears' "Piece of Me" came on. I never ever thought I would download a Britney Spears song, but it got me so pumped that I bought the single so that I could use it while running too.
