Exercise-Free Days

Do You Have Exercise-Free Days of the Week?

I teach a vigorous yoga class on Monday nights, so Tuesdays are usually workout-free days for me. It's actually nice to have specific days set aside each week to let my sore muscles relax and regain my energy. Tell me, are there certain days of the week deemed as exercise-free for you?

I go to the gym maybe 1-3 days a week, but for the most part I'm doing some form of exercise/dance every day. I tend to take pole dance classes every day and pilates twice a week in addition to the gym, but the dancing is so much fun that it never seems like exercise at all. I love the feeling I get after exercise, whether it's a dance class or after the gym. I love being active.

It varies every week. I have a random work schedule so if I have to work early in the morning I usually skip that day :)

Sunday is my scheduled day off. I exercise Mon - Sat. On Saturday I usually go for my longest ran of the week (12-14 miles), so I just relax on Sunday. I still try to stay active - park, rollerblading with my boyfriend, etc.

I try to workout at least 5 days at week, ideally 6. I always take Sundays off and sometimes Saturdays. But I'm flexible about it. For example, I stayed up late last night watching the National Championship, so I didn't get up early and work out. No big deal, I'll work out Saturday and that's 5 days this week!

My day off per week usually depends on how I'm feeling and what my work schedule is like. Some weeks I don't take a "day off", but I'll take a few easy days instead. I like being active, so I try to at least walk when I'm "off".

I try to schedule an exercise-free day each week, but it usually happens whenever I can take it. My goal is six times a week, with a scheduled day off. I think it's important to schedule a day off so you don't feel the pressure to go to the gym on say, Wednesday to make up for not going on Monday. That way, you are committed to going on Monday with the knowledge that you'll have Wednesday off. I often think that my hemming and hawing about going to the gym and feelings of guilt on the days I don't go are relatively unhealthy. I sometimes suspect this site might be too fitness-and-health obsessed!

HONESTLY I try and have exercise free days but sometimes it's too hard to go without that kick. I managed to hold off on exercise 2 days last week. Wow, it totally used to be the other way around. ;) I love my evening run & it really helps me to de-stress from work.

I exercise every other day. It fits into my schedule, and it gives my body enough time to recover. However, with that said, on my days off, I'm still pretty active.

I usually only get around to exercising one day over the weekend, or not at all. But my goal is to exercise at least once on the weekend. I need to be better about that.

Usually I take Fridays off....I generally exercise after work during the week (in the mornings on weekends) but I like to have my Friday evenings free in case I want to meet friends for dinner or something like that... :)

Sundays! I usually try to take a leisurely walk.... but treat it as a day of rest!

I take sundays off. We still end up being "active" in some way, whether it be shopping, walking to a nearby store, doing yard work.. but it's not a "gym" day for me! Mon-Sat is enough!
I try to exercise everyday (that's the plan I dont ALWAYS succeed). Monday to Friday are gym days and the weekend I either work out outside if weather permits or I use an exercise DVD.

I work out based on how I feel, and usually try to do something active everyday, even if it's a quick 20 minute walk.

The days I take off completely vary based on my schedule and my husband's schedule since I need him to be home to watch the baby while I workout in the basement. There are usually at least 2 days a week where it just doesn't work based on our schedules. We both work full time and he also does sports announcing for a local college in the evenings which takes up extra time. I used to use that time to workout, but I can't anymore now that I have a child who is done napping by the time I pick her up from day care.

I usually take a day off a week, but it really depends on my schedule for when that is. Sometimes it's that Wednesday I didn't drag myself out of bed, other times it's the Sunday that I'm meeting friends for Brunch instead of bike riding. Once I've skipped one day though, I make sure I don't miss any more for the week. It gives me flexibility while keeping on track.

I usually take Mon and Wed off. Sometimes I will do yoga those days, but I don't have a problem with doing yoga daily in terms of wearing myself out.
