Favorite Feature in Health Magazines

What's Your Favorite Feature in Healthy Living Magazines?

I have at least five subscriptions to different health and fitness magazines. They're chock full of so many great features: fitness tips, reviews of gear, nutritional info about food, and healthy recipes. My favorite feature, though, has to be all the strength training exercises and workout routines. It's great to be able to try out new moves the next time I work out, which not only makes me stronger, but also keeps me motivated to exercise. What about you?

I have to say healthy recipies. My fiance is a carnivore, and I'm a vegetarian. Any time I can find a meat free tasty meal, I'll try it. If he can have it with a little meat on the side, even better.

It's a toss up between gear/clothing reviews and recipes, especially if they're vegetarian. Trying to eat less meat I've found that good veg recipes are hard to come by. Endless recipes for pasta with veggies get kinda boring.

Spectra - I agree that a lot of the celebrity stories are BS. What really bugs me is that the cover of the magazine usually says something like "[insert celebrity] and the ten firming moves she swears by!" It's like, um, are those really the "moves she swears by" or are those the exercises you want to feature this month and that you have merely photographed a celebrity demonstrating.

I like reading about the newest/latest health studies and what they're finding out. Then I go and read the actual study to figure out if it's worth getting excited about or not. I also like the strength training routines in some of the magazines, but a lot of them are kind of worthless because they use little tiny 3 lb weights. As far as the celebrities and how they stay in shape, those stories are pretty much total BS...they always SAY that they "eat whatever they want and walk a lot, but don't go to the gym". When you KNOW that they eat nothing but kelp and run 10 miles a day.

I like any new information about healthy eats (antioxidants, good fats, good fiber sources, etc.). Also, I appreciate tasty, simple recipes.

I really enjoy the personal stories of people who have lost tremendous amounts of weight. It's so good to see people taking charge of their health, and it shows how much is possible with a little determination.
