When it comes to eating right, you can't go wrong with foods that satisfy but will also help with weight-loss goals. Case in point: these four eating strategies that help you burn more fat at every meal.

  1. Start your day with yogurt: Studies have shown that eating dairy can help burn belly fat, but that doesn't mean you can eat a whole plate of cheese and crackers. Yogurt is a great dairy option for its other figure-friendly attributes; besides trimming your middle, yogurt helps regulate your digestive system so you don't feel bloated and is also a great source of protein to keep you fuller for longer.
  2. Take advantage of in-season berries: Summer's a great time to be reminded about just how good for you berries really are. Strawberries, for example, contain high amounts of vitamin C, which studies have shown helps turn fat into fuel while you exercise. And blueberries are known for their belly-fat-blasting properties, so stock up the next time you visit your farmers market.
  3. Add spice: So many reasons to spice it up. Adding an extra dash of spices at any meal may just help you burn a few more calories for the day. That sprinkling of cinnamon on your morning latte can lower cholesterol levels and regulate your blood sugar, and that turmeric in your spicy dinner can slow down the growth of fat tissue in your body. Capsaicin, the chemical in peppers that makes them hot, may also boost your metabolism.
  4. Eat fat to burn fat: Fight fat with fat by opting for the healthier unsaturated fats found in nutritional powerhouses like nuts, olive oil, and avocados. Eat a small amount of these healthy fats regularly to reap the fat-burning benefits.
