Funny Parody of Wii Fit

Wii Fit: Has Anyone Tried It?

So I had high hopes for Wii Fit, but after much criticism and research about how the Wii doesn't really compare to a real workout, I am rather skeptical these days. This funny parody didn't help convince me either — though I did get a good laugh out of it, especially with the hula hoop mention since I am guessing Beyoncé did not get so bootylicious by standing on a Wii Fit.

(Here's the real promo.)

Has anyone tried the Wii Fit? If so, did you get a good workout? I'm dying to know and I am sure everyone else is, too.

That was hilarious!! I think the Wii Fit would be good for people to get started on a exercise regimen. For people who run every day, maybe not.

Im probably going to get WiiFit when it comes out. The games that are "Fitness" aimed at that I've tried are Wii Sports, Boxing is a workout! Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games also is a workout, especially swimming and running. DDR is also a great workout and I tried Eye Toy Kinetic once and wasn't all that impressed. Mainly I did it with a friend to have fun.

In response to peregrine's coment: Yourself! Fitness has been out for a while for Xbox, and I use it daily. It provides a good workout on days that I don't want to go to the gym (or if I get off work too late). If there is an update to it, and a 2nd version coming out, that would be awesome! As for the Wii Fit, I have a Wii and love it. But I don't see that platform being very useful in weight loss? The Wii itself (without the platform) is pretty intense. It'll be interesting to see what they have come with it, like maybe arm, head and ankle bands with sensors on them? That'd be fun! :)

I haven't tried it (or seen it), but that said, I do have the Wii and when I play tennis against my son my arms hurt like I've really been playing. In fact, playing games like tether-ball make my arms hurt too. And, I workout quite often. In fact, when my boys box each other on Wii they are both sweating. It's 4 non-stop 3-minutes rounds that keep them both moving the entire time. After the 1st time my youngest played he woke up the next day sore and didn't know what it was from. It's still a video game, not a workout, but my point-of-view is that it's much better than just working your thumbs in front of the tv for hours on end.

I didn't know it was out. I'm totally gonna get it.

Well, I'll try it out. I'm a sucker for anything that morphs technology and fitness (like the "Yourself Fitness" that peregrine mentioned). If you're moving, you're moving... even if it's in front of a television. It's still burning calories and that's better than nothing.

I agree with Rataholicool - the boxing is incredible! You feel it for a couple of days after and it's a ton of fun! I'm really excited for the WiiFit. I do workout regularly but I still think it will be a fun addition to my regular routine.

I've played the Wii boxing... and oh my goodness. I was sweating like crazy after 10 minutes! I had to punch with all I had to beat the other person!! It knocked out my breath.

honestly , if you want a real workout , you have to actually exercise , I'm pretty sure wii fit is not gonna completely get the job done , if your looking for an additional thing why not? but if you want a video game that's fun and gives you a great exercise try DDR MAXX for PlayStation 2 . that i have actually tried =] its fun and gives you a good workout and it even has a workout mode that you can set to see around how many calories you are loosing . but still , you cant just play DDR MAXX and expect to gain a lot , you would still have to exercise a bit , all it takes is to take a jog outside or use an elliptical .

The Wii fit isn't out yet here.

I can see it being a good workout for chronic couch potatoes who don't have much stamina. I'm guessing most hard-core gamers are not exactly in great shape, so at least it gets them up and doing SOMETHING productive. I don't think I'd really get into it though. I prefer to work out on actual equipment or take a good run outside.

Yourself! Fitness has another game coming out soon apparently, hopefully with improvements.

I can't wait for it... whether or not it's actually a good work-out, i'm sure it will be tons of fun!! I thought that the Wii Fit was coming to North America in Jan. or Feb, i'm so sad i have to wait until May to get it.

Just a quick note for those who have been wondering when it would come out in the US, Wikipedia now has a release date listed for Wii Fit in North America of 20 May 2008. And I have to agree with Julieulie - for those of us who have tried to get into a gym/exercise habit before with no success (I'm sorry - I have tried just about every exercise there is and none have made me enjoy or even tolerate exercising), doing even some exercise with the Wii is better than doing nothing at all - which is what I would be doing with no Wii in my house!

I think this would be a good tool for older people...even senior citizens. And it would be fun a party with friends!

I haven't seen or tried it, but I also think we have to realize who is the target audience for Wii fit. Any kind of video game fitness program is obviously not designed for an olympic athlete or a marathon runner in peak physical shape, and if you're used to spending an hour a day, seven days per week at the gym, it probably won't seem like much of a workout. But if you're an occasional gym user who loves video games, you might not be in 100% perfect shape and Wii fit is probably more than you do on a regular basis, plus I'm sure it's fun and entertaining, so it's something people would actually WANT to do. While it might be fun to mix things up or have something more entertaining to do on those days you really don't want to go to the gym, I don't think I can expect a Wii workout to be the equivalent of an hour on the elliptical.

I've never heard of it, but if I had a Wii I would totally get it. I have a game for PS2, Kinetic, that has an eye toy that senses your moves and really has a good workout but my apartment is too small to use it (you need to be 2-4' away from the screen) unless I re-arrange. If the Wii is anything like it I think it would work better in my smaller space. :)
