How Do You Get Your Fiber?

To reap all the great benefits of fiber, you should get about 30 grams a day. You can eat vegetables and fruits that are naturally high in fiber, or look for with fiber-fortified foods like yogurt. Some people even take fiber supplements such as Fiber Choice. What's your strategy?

LaurenG22---I'm Filipino, that's how we eat. Rice is our staple food and any meal is never complete without rice. :-)

I don't really think about fiber, but when selecting a cereal I try to go for one that's got a lot of fiber in it.

Mostly natural foods high in fiber. I eat a bowl of Uncle Sam Flax Seed ceral in the morning (10g) w/ soy milk (1g). For Lunch I have a morningstar chik pattie (2g) on Natures Promise Bread (3) with hummus (5g). I have lima beans on the side (6g). For dinner I always have at least two vegetables; either peas (4g), a potato (4g) and/or green beans (2g). If I am having spaghetti (Barilla Plus is wonderful (4g), I add either Morningstar Farms Soy Links or the Grillers Soy Meat Crmuble (also my morningstar) which would give me another 2-3g of fiber. The tomato sauce also gives another 2g. I eat raspberries (est 8g) through out the day along with blueberries (4g.)

I do get a lot of fiber---I eat 1 cup of rice 3 x a day-breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Oatmeal in the mornings, and I try to fit in other high-fiber items throughout the day. For instance, I'll get my sandwich on whole wheat, or I'll make sure to eat fruit and veg.

35 grams a day with oatmeal, beans/lentils, fruits and veggies. No supplements needed.

I focus on foods that are high in fiber, especially fibrous veggies. I also eat my apples unpeeled, eat whole fruit instead of drinking juice and add flaxseeds to my smoothies :-)

Oh, I also love the Fiberful fruit bars from Trader Joes. And the Fiber One peanut butter bars too.

My first "vitamin" of the day is a fiber supplement that I take when I wake up. Its 4g of fiber, 50% of my daily calcium and some amnt of vitamin D that i can't remember right now. I also try to eat a lot of fruits and veggies. Every day I will either have an apple or a pear since those have a lot of fiber. I keep track of my intake throughout the day and if I've somehow fallen really short, I'll have a 100 calorie bag of popcorn which has 9g of fiber and then my daily intake is usually good, around 30g.

I'm a big fan of Kashi Go Lean Crunch for fiber cereal. It has about 8 grams, and it's super filling for a breakfast item.

I just eat different foods that have fiber like cereals, oat bran, yogurt, fruits and veggies. I'm sure I get more fiber from my diet than I would have a couple of years ago.

I do the oats and ch-ch-ch-chia about which Im always yammering but I LOVE these new fiber one yogurts. welcome to loserville. population? MizFit :)

If anything, I might get a little too much fiber--I tracked my eating with one of those online tools that calculates nutritional content, and some days I was getting more than 50 grams. But that was in the winter, when I eat a lot of oatmeal, (whole-grain) bread, and legume-based soups. With warm weather, it's all about fresh, raw fruits and veggies--still plenty of fiber, but less likely to cause bloating, I hope.
