How Do You Strength Train?


From old-fashioned-looking kettlebells to the spring-loaded machines found in a Pilates studio, I'm always mixing up my strength training accessories. I try to convince myself that varying my methods of resistance creates serious muscle confusion, ultimately making me stronger. But honestly, I switch it up to keep workout boredom at bay. I also use bands, dumbbells, medicine balls, and my own body weight — hello, push-ups. What about you, how do you typically strength train?

I'm poor - practically Soviet poor, so since I can't afford the gym I use free weights, resistance bands, swiss ball, and do calisthenics. Keeps me plenty fit.

I mostly do bodyweight exercises, and I have a pair of 15-lb dumbells that are often just used to add to my bodyweight during squats and lunges.

I do the majority of my strength training using free weights because I think they're the most fun, but I also love the cable machines. Body weight exercises like dips, chinups, and pushups are also crucial.

70% body weight, 25% resistance tubing and a bit of ankle weights for lower body sculpting. I really like resistance tubing and there are so many full body exercises you can do with them so it cuts back on the amount of time spent weight training.

Free weights and resistance bands, mostly because they have a really wide range of motion. I also do a lot of body weight exercises.

Mostly weight machines and free weights. I use resistance bands when traveling.

Mostly weights, but also resistance bands. I voted for Dumbbells only though because you can't pick 2 only.

everything! except i'm too injury prone for most of the fixed strength machines plus i like to move around, so the bands and free weights are my faves

he he, yeah, I bought a resistance band, but I couldn't figure out what to do with it. It's so long! I mostly lift weight and use my body weight. I hate the gym.
