How Long Was Your Lengthiest Workout So Far This Fall?

This Fall, I've taken advantage of the cooler weather and run a 10K in a hour and also hiked a few mountains that each took about four hours. Recently, my longest workout was a walk for Breast Cancer Awareness Month that lasted six hours. It felt great to be a part of such an important cause, but man, was I sore from walking straight for that long. So I was wondering . . .

I ran the Glasgow half-marathon in September - 1:46 so just under two hours, but easily my best and hardest run so far this autumn.

I recently started to do my work outs for longer and therefore have 2 days off a week. I used to work out daily for about 20-30 minutes. Now I work out 5 days a week for 45 - 90 minutes. That includes cardio + strength training typically.

I work out daily for 2 hours - that elliptical gets tired of me just as much as I get tired on it! ha ha!

Well, this was a complete accident, I jogged for over an hour. I was suppose to jog for 30 minutes, but my timer didn't go off (my fault, I mis-set it). I was jogging, and jogging, listening to my music, relying on my timer. It wasn't until it got dark, I looked up and saw the moon, that realize something was wrong. LOL

About once or twice a week, I do a 3 1/2 hour circuit that involves running, jumping rope, the elliptical machine, and the stationary bike. It's a serious calorie-burner and the variety keeps me from getting bored.

My longerst was actually last night for a little more than an hour. I was never able to get a definative answer as to weather its better to do cardio before or after weights so I did both and I think I actually like it. Because if I try to run after weights I can do it for as far or as long so if I run before and get all warmed up and then do weights and then the eliptical after. I think i'm hooked on working out. :)

Good luck, ferret, but most importantly -- have fun! Crossing the finish line at your first distance race is an AMAZING feeling! Enjoy it and make sure to look up for your finish line photo (no fiddling with your watch!).

@runningesq: thank you, it'll be my 1st HM. very excited! my calcs the same... 90 calories per mile. for 90 calories, i sweat a ton! but you really can't beat burning that number of cals in 10 minutes (or less). :D btw, i'm in absolute admiration about your doing the HIM. woooo @soccerkim: good luck!!!!!!!!! amazing!

Ferret --- your first half -- that's awesome! (first HM or first HIM?) I burn about 90 calories per mile --- so 10 miles = 900 calories (right? :P)

@ runners in general: really? i thought it was approx 100 cal per mile. for my weight range it's 90 cal per mile.

Runningesq -- A 10-mile run for me (about 2 hours, as I'm slow) burns close to 1500 calories -- I think its all in the difference of weight. My longest run was about 3.5 hours - training for my marathon, which is 3 weeks from Sunday (OMG!) -- I was just aiming for an LSD run... Long, Slow, Distance.

I just finished my first 10K a few weeks ago. However, since then I've fallen off the bandwagon a little. Whereas I was working out six days a week, it fell down to four for a little while. :-( I just set a new goal of a 10-miler this spring, but that's so far away, I'm looking for a more immediate goal that forces me back into my six-days a week!

1400 calories in 90 minutes? For a 10 mile run (which takes me about 90 mintes), I burn about 900 calories.
