Learn what's trending across POPSUGAR. By now, most new college students have had a few weeks to adjust to life on campus, but that doesn't mean they aren't wishing there were more than 24 hours in the day. Between newfound friends, hectic class schedules, and constant studying, it can be hard to remember to make fitness a priority — or just find the time to exercise! To help us all with the logistic of finding time for fitness, we turned to the authorities on college life: we asked five CollegeCandy writers to share how they keep fit on campus. Read on for their advice on making time for exercise as well as products recommended by them or inspired by their workouts! Michelle Locke, Recent College of Idaho Grad Her workout: 45 minutes of cardio (three to four times a week) 15-20 minutes of circuits (three to four times a week), and morning yoga (usually on the weekends). How she fits it in: "I get up early in the mornings, usually around 5:30, and hit the gym or do my workout immediately. It's the easiest way to get it done for me, because by the time I've been to class, I'm ready to study in the library, write essays, etc. I know that by evening or dinnertime, I won't feel like working out." Her workout essentials: Aerobics step ("Once you have the basics down, it's so easy to just do a routine while watching TV or even while reading."), Old Navy yoga pants ("Comfortable for working out or wearing over tighter fitting workout gear."). She also stashes deodorant, Bath and Body Works Body splash, and lip balm in her gym bag. "I walk everywhere, take longer routes to class, and use the stairs instead of the elevator." How she fits it in: "It’s really important to schedule it in. If I didn’t have it on my calendar, I wouldn’t do it, so I make sure to write it down and commit a time to exercise. For me it’s about convenience. Going to the gym takes a lot more time for me than doing a yoga tape in my room." Her workout essentials: "I'm a huge fan of Nike shorts, or Norts as we call them at UA. I love Nike products, it's definitely my go-to brand. I just got some new Nike Free Run 2.0 running shoes that I'm obsessed with." "On my days off, I run four to six miles in preparation for my races or lift weights." How she fits it in: "Since my job is also a workout, I am constantly on the move! For my lifestyle, it fits right in." Her workout essentials: O Gorgeous for gym bags and yoga mat holders ("They are super chic and make my gym ensemble look very classy."), and sweat-wicking, high-quality workout clothes. So, I try to go to one of their classes whenever I have free time during the week. I love going to Zumba and Pilates." How she fits it in: "I try to go to a class whenever possible. They are only an hour, so one hour out of my day is do-able, and it makes me feel better. If I have an hour break between class and work, I’ll try to fit a class in." Her workout essentials: "When I go to the gym, I love to bring a magazine. They are really easy to read, as opposed to a book with really small print, while I’m on an elliptical. I also love the Bobble Water Bottle, which has a filter built in to it, so I don’t feel like I’m drinking dirty water when I have to refill with the gym water." "When I'm in good shape, I like to run on the treadmill, but if I'm out of shape and want to take it easy on my knees I like to go on the elliptical." How she fit it in: "I worked out with two of my friends during the week. Sometimes we would meet and take a cardio class together between our class schedules but mostly we would trek to the gym together at night after our classes were finished and we had finished all our work and meetings for the day. It worked well with our schedules, plus it was a good way for us to decompress at the end of the day." Her workout essentials: Nike workout pants ("They are versatile and comfortable enough to wear to take a class or run a few miles.") and Champion USA products, like the spandex workout short. "Two of the most important things I look out for when shopping for workout clothes is flexibility and sweat control."
