How Many Meals Do You Eat Out in One Week?

I love a home cooked meal, but sometimes I just cannot muster the energy to tackle making a meal — especially on Monday night when there are no leftovers. Cooking your own food not only saves you calories, but it saves you money as well. An easy win/win. A recent survey on the eating habits of working parents found many were eating take-out meals midday and for dinner. I am curious about you . . . how many meals do you eat out during the week including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I am not talking fancy meals at restaurants with linens and candles, but any food that wasn't prepared at home.

Maybe once a month or once every two months. Celiac disease makes eating out risky and pricey.

I am in college, it would be easier to answer how many days I eat in...

I can make anything I'd eat out at home for less and much tastier! Why bother eating out? I never eat out. Less than once a month definitely.

Hm, I can't really answer this, since technically I never have a home cooked meal during the school year. That's what sucks about living on campus. :( But at home on breaks, we eat out/get take out maybe 2 or 3 times a month.

I eat out MAYBE once to twice a month. I rather make my own fresh foods than eat out.

I eat out probably 4-6 times per week, but I work 3 jobs, two of them at restaurants. I usually take food home from work because if I cooked when I got home, I wouldn't be eating till nearly 11! The restaurants that I work for all use free-range and organic meats, everything is fresh, real food; nothing is out of a bag and thrown into the fryer, so I still feel good about what I'm eating.

I usually try to schedule at least one night a week where all I do is go to work, workout, then come home and cook something healthy. But unfortunately my schedule doesn't allow me to do that more than once a week. I usually have dinner at various board meetings or at girls night or whatever.

I almost never eat out, when I do it's at work where I try and get something healthy like a salad or a foccacia for lunch/dinner. One in a blue moon I'll be naughty and get a burger or something just as fat filled.

I'm trying to shed 120 pounds and so far I've done 30 lbs.....I don't eat out. Instead I've taught myself to cook healthy means and there's no eatery, restaurant, deli who does meals as tasty as I do! I refuse to eat out more than once per month because I have to have total control over what goes into my food - so far i've been doing VERY well and I am not messing it up.

Too expensive calorically and financially to eat out. Plus I plain don't trust the wait staff (complete strangers) to handle my food. The catch about my disdain for eating out is my husband likes to eat out on the weekends. I would tell him to go on and get what you want. I'll just eat what's in the fridge. Then he doesn't go again. Oh well. He had a choice.

I eat out maybe once every two months or so. It's way too expensive to eat out all the time, plus I prefer to know what's actually in my food.

I eat breakfast and lunch at work Mon - Fri, we have an on-site cafeteria that will cook whatever I want the way I want it and cheaper than buying food to make something myself. Usually once or twice a week, we will also go out to dinner.

I eat out maybe three or four times a year, on the birthday of a close family member. I agree that it's much cheaper, healthier and tastier to cook at home. And I have a lot of food allergies and intolerances, so it's much easier.

Does prepared food from Whole Foods count as "eating in"? I mean, it's not technically a restaurant :)

My husband and I eat out for dinner almost every night of the week. It's just the two of us, and we've found that eating out is actually cheaper (for us) than eating at home (for us). Regardless, I tend to do a lot of baking, which fills my need to cook, and I teach at a university and eat in the cafeteria everyday - I never eat out for breakfast or lunch.

I eat a better variety of foods when I eat at a restaurant. I absolutely HATE cooking.
