How Much Do You Use Your Gym Membership?

January is the busiest month for gyms, mostly because a lot of us decided that the new year was going to be when we started working out. As the months pass by, gyms get less and less busy as many gym warriors of the past start to lose steam. As we all know gym memberships don't come cheap so I am curious if you're getting your money's worth.

I work out at home 5 days a week.

I've never belonged to a gym. I hate them! I work out at home with videos and weights, and I run outside. Friends who belong to gyms tell me that their membership dues are great motivation to go, but I guess I'm just motivated on my own because I work out more than they do.

i try my very best to go everyday and i succeed unless my schoolwork and job get to take up my whole day and i had no sleep...generally, the really busy days, i don't. so 15-30, leaning on the over 25.

who wants to spend 6 days a week in a gym when it's so beautiful outside? not that you shoud skip a workout, but i feel so much better from running in the morning then when i spend a hr. in the gym.

I work out at home with videos gyms are usually too crowded and you don't get as good a workout waiting to use the machine.

I used to be more like 15 days/month, but these days my primary cardio is running outside, so like some of the previous posters, I only go for weight training or classes or some crosstraining.

Gyms seem to promise the world and then treat you like crap. I have had many memberships and even worked at a gym. I prefer other types classes ie. yoga, pilates, kick boxing...where the teachers seem to give more personal attention and are much cheaper. Plus I always learn new tips every time I go to a class! :) Gyms need to re think how they present and follow through with their clients. Id love a personal trainer but it seems you have to join a gym to do that. Its all very frustrating to me now.

My main exrcising is outdoor running 5 times a week. I use my membership only for other things like yoga or weight training so only 3 times a week or so.

people in comments are saying, that they work out at home, i can't do that at all. i love working out when i get to the gym, but only in yoga, step or aerobicks class with a trainer and a group, i can't handle doing it alone. and group pushes you not to stop when you feel like it's too boring.

gym memberships is very bad deal for me, but i still get them. i got one from my university, and it was very cheap, for 6 months... i've been in for only 2 sessions... but i belive it's because it's 1 hour away from my home. i'm gonna try gym right next to me and see how i'll handle it. probably 10-13 days a month if i'm good. it was a mistake to take up gym so far away from home. especially for a lazy person like me.

I don't have a gym membership. Getting ready to go to the gym made me not want to go. I have a bunch of great workout dvds, dumbells, a ball, and a stair stepper. I'm never going to the gym again!

I walk my dog for an hour or more every night on the beach and the hills in town. then I come home and do pilates and stretching. :) I used to be a personal trainer, so I've got a lot of ideas to trick my muscles!

i work at a university and they have a new fitness center which staff and faculty can access for only ten bucks a month! and no sign up fee. I just take my gym clothes with me to work and workout afterwards.

I hate the gym, I go for classes (which hasn't been happening because of my work schedule lately) but would much rather do something outside.

I love my gym!! It is all women and they have the best group fitness classes. I feel very comfortable there.
