How Often Do You Eat Sugary Sweets?

I definitely have a sweet tooth and crave cookies, cakes smeared with frosting, and anything else you'd find at a bakery. I satiate my cravings by having a piece of dark chocolate each day. I'm also a big fan of sharing a little dessert if I'm out to eat. Of course now that's it's warmer out, I love to take my girls out for ice cream or frozen yogurt on the weekends. So what about you?

i love sugar, but i try to ingest it in more healthful forms than candy -- a glass of chocolate hemp milk curbs my cravings (and it's LOADED with calcium -- it's got about 50% of your RDI), and i also like a little bit of kashi's cocoa beach granola in the evening for dessert on occasion. yum.

Wow, seems a lot of people struggle as much as I do! It's easy to feel alone in it. I try not to eat too much but I believe this will be a life-long battle for me. Not pure deprivation but I 1) know that if I let myself, I can easily eat between 500 grams - 1 kilo of sweets A DAY b) know that even though I haven't really gained weight from it before, the fact that I have a little bit now (at age 22) means it can only get worse from here! c) don't want to be stuck with habits that work against my body d) want to have a long, healthy life If I have it at home, I eat it. It's as simple as that. Having 'a handful' or 'just one or two' of something is just not how I work. Once I wait a day or two without sweets, I feel 100% better. More efficient, full of energy and a lot happier/less mood swings.

Ohhhh yeah... scones I love, and every few days I go to the ThriftWay by my house which sells candy by the pound and I buy Gummy Peaches. I used to be hooked on Swedish Fish but Gummy Peaches are cheaper :)

simbaspaws...What desserts are you talking about that are artificial? I make lots of desserts from scratch and buy from bakeries that use all whole ingredients...I don't see why someone would boycott the whole USA due to Little Debbies or something like that.

Oh yeah inertia....i miss european desserts over here in the US (almost a reason for me to move back on some the food in Europe)..hate artificial stuff...has not satisfaction.

just ate a snickers....enough said. Seriously I can be strict about my regular food intake (mostly), but I would never, ever give up my chocolate. It is the best thing there is in the world.

Too often. My main problem is the office I work at keeps stocking sweets. Its hard to fight the temptation.

I have a major sweet tooth, but at least I never eat candy. I work at Cold Stone so I think I'm overexposed! My favorites... ice cream, cake, and cookies. I've gotten pretty good at knowing how much is enough, but I probably have an ice cream once a week, and maybe a big oatmeal chocolate chip cookie once a week as well. If I'm out to dinner and the restaurant has fancy desserts, I usually order something to share.

I enjoy my sweet treats every day, but that doesn't mean I'm going crazy on a mondo piece of cake every night. Sometimes it might just be a small square of amazing chocolate, caramel popcorn, or every now and then I go for some ice cream (local maker still makes it the old fashioned way so I'm not loading up on awful stuff like I could at a Coldstone Creamery).

I don't really have much of a sweet tooth so I rarely eat sweets. I do indulge here and there but nothing drastic.

i love sweets but in my effort to be healthy i splurge only when its "worth the calories". so even though a candy bar might look good, i'd rather skip it and have a slice of my grandmother's home-made cake later on.

Rarely. I'm not big into sweets, sodium is more my downfall. Besides, I get enough sugar from my daily "liquid satan" Dr. Pepper.

I have a sweet tooth too, but I try to use more lo-cal treats to treat myself. Yourgurt w/ fruit Fresh watermelon or strawberries (if I'm really bad I'll spray a little FF whip cream on them) Jello Fat-Free pudding (yes, I know it has aspartame, but I don't drink soda of any kind, so it's the only fake sugar I get) fudgecicles (only 50 calories each) Graham crackers I try not to spluge much anymore, but my BF LOVES ice cream, so occasionally we'll go out and get a cone. Ice cream is my weakness & coincendentally my achilles heel w/ gaining weight..

I dont ever eat sweets.. i stopped eating them in october to lose weight and i just never started eating them again id rather have an apple!

I eat sweets maybe twice a week now. When I was growing up in the US I almost never ate sweets. The portions were too large and I didn't like the taste of the artificial ingredients. It made me feel sick. Since I moved overseas I've discovered the wonders of French-style desserts made with real cream, butter, and sugar. The portions are small (1/2 to 2/3 the size of the cake shown in the photo) so I can eat a whole piece without feeling ill and there's no chemical aftertaste. It's delicious! But I still don't want to eat it every day and generally prefer salty foods.

Dark chocolate is my weakness. I keep a box of the Hershey's Extra Dark Chocolate Sticks at work and at home. And, I loove the 100 calorie York Peppermint Sticks.. I'm going to have to look into the Dove chocolates with the vitamins though. That sounds like a good excuse to have somethin sweet. :)

i have a new rule for myself, no candy, soda, or junk food until the weekend. during the weekdays i try to eat healthy. but during the week im going crazy craving sugar.

i know to be healthy i need to cut out the junk food.. but i feel ike i need just a little bit of something every day. i need to break myself of this habit..
