If you are going out to dinner later, don't forget to plan. "I always look up the menu online before I go. If you can’t do that, once you get to the restaurant, scan the menu and look for things in each section that look like good choices."
Lisa also recommends ordering a healthy appetizer, like shrimp cocktail, green salad, or a broth-based soup, to cut hunger (but step away from the breadbasket!). As for the entree, "I like to stay with grilled proteins, so whether it’s a grilled fish or chicken option, a lot of vegetables, always get double vegetables, and I don’t really eat a lot of starches at restaurants," she says. "And I try to get the sauces on the side."
Oh, and skip the pasta. "A lot of the pasta dishes when you eat out have three or four servings of pasta, so the calories really add up. And then unidentifiable sauces also could be problem."
