Measure Out Portions to Lose Weight

This Weight-Loss Rule Really Works

If you're counting calories and watching your portion sizes, there's only one true way to know exactly how much you're eating. Dietitian Julie Upton, MS, RD, of Appetite For Health says to get out measuring cups, spoons, and a food scale so you can weigh and measure what you're eating. It's way more effective than using the less-than-accurate "eyeball" technique. And for packaged foods such as cereal or crackers, stick to the recommended serving to see if you've been suffering from portion distortion.
