Niki Taylor Talks About Losing Baby Weight in People Magazine

A Healthy Bite: Niki Taylor

"If I have dessert, I spend a half an hour more exercising," says the 5'11" model, who spends 30 minutes a day doing cardio — walking, jogging or on a gym treadmill. "So I would rather just have the bite than work out an hour!"

— Supermodel Niki Taylor on how she curbs her appetite for desserts. Niki tells People that she has worked hard to maintain a healthy diet and weight since giving birth to her daughter 13 months ago. Niki dropped an amazing 59 pounds after the birth — going from 197 pounds to 138 pounds. Some typical meals for Niki are oatmeal with berries or chicken broiled in coconut oil. As for weight training, Niki gets enough of that while on mom duty: "I'm lifting a 25-lb. baby, her stroller and a diaper bag. That’s a workout.”

Sometimes I find that eating one bite makes me crave more sweets. I try other techniques like getting very bitter organic chocolate (you can't eat a lot) or freezing yogurt and having that for dessert. There are limited sizes or tastes, so you don't over indulge, and you don't need the extra 30 mins of cardio :)

Wow, that's a good tip. I do this when my husband and I get dessert at a restaurant. Usually, I take a bite of the dessert and my husband wolfs down the rest of it, haha.
