If you're not losing weight as you expected, take a look at how you eat on Saturday.

Recent research has found that people on strict diet and exercise programs tend to lose weight more slowly than expected because they eat more on weekends, particularly on Saturdays, than during the week. In order to avoid this pitfall in your weight loss endeavors, it's important to plan for the weekends, just like you would plan for your week. If you know you are going to be out all day shopping, pack a healthy lunch to avoid the temptation of the food court. If you're going to be at the park with your kids, bring snacks for everyone so that you don't need to make an emergency stop at McDonald's.

yep. weekends are terrible for me. -.- past two have been horrendous. even thought i did better on saturday than i did on sunday. my future mother in law always has sweets in her home and when i visit i just can't help myself since i keep away from them during the week. ah!

I have a cheat meal either Friday or Saturday night. I also don't work out on Saturdays or Sundays.

I eat a lot of calories on Saturdays, but that's because my doctor told me to have a high-calorie day... seems to help with my weight loss, but I do have A LOT to lose ;)

I tend to eat about the same on weekends too, for the most part. Once in awhile there will be an occasion where I toss the calorie counter out the window, but it doesn't make any difference in my weight since it's a rare thing.

weekends are truly the bane of my existence. i've found that i go to my mom's house on the weekends and she always likes to make sure that i'm eating and so i do tend to eat more but i have also started to really make sure that i hit the gym on the weekends so i can try to balance things out.

I don't really eat much differently on weekends than I do during the week, but I do take a day off from my workout routine on either Friday, Saturday, or Sunday to help me get re-focused for the next week.

While these findings are not suprising to me (as someone who tracks their calories on a daily basis, I know I eat more on weekends, but I try to stay in my range), I wonder how much money was spent figuring this out... There are also some people for whom weekends are their most active times, and they eat more because they do more, but they eat way more than they should (I have a friend who is training for a marathon who does long runs on the weekends and then eats like she runs like that every day).
