From chasing after her son to filming the Sex and the City movie, Sarah Jessica Parker has been quite busy these days. How's a busy celeb supposed to get fit and trim with so many things on her plate?

Life & Style reports that she keeps portions small, stocks up on protein and doesn't overdo the alcohol, fat or sugar (even at restaurants). She also walks instead of taking a cab. More than that though, she is also known to be in the Zone — not like Britney Spears is in the zone, but in Dr. Barry Sears's Zone of a ratio of carbs, protein and fat.

If you're also in the Zone, here are tips for keeping in the Zone even while dining out:

  1. Snack first. Never go out on an empty stomach. Have a small snack (like an apple) an hour before instead of opting for bread or mixed nuts.
  2. Fill up on protein. When ordering, choose low-fat proteins such as grilled chicken or seafood first. Then let veggies and healthy carbs round out the dish.
  3. Size matters. A serving of protein is about the size and thickness of your palm. Bad carbs should be limited to the size of a tight fist, while good carbs can be the size of two loose fists. Save the rest for leftovers.
  4. Go green. Overindulge on salad (with a moderate amount of dressing). The fiber is filling.
  5. Curb the carbs. If a glass of wine (or dessert) is on the menu, replace any other carbs in the meal with an extra portion of veggies.

I agree that most celebs are naturally slim and SJP is one of them. But, the more info I hear about celeb diets and tricks, the more I'm convinced that most of them don't eat much and are always trying to find a way to weigh less. I don't really believe some of these uber thin celebs when they say they eat healthy and work out some. They really WORK! I read one article that said they work out 3 hours a day. Maybe it's not unhealthy, but it's definitely unrealistic for normal people.

I think it's a good % genetics and starving..these celebs hardly do eat! She's thin but not really fit.

It's a combination of genetics, diet, and exercise. I find that it's necessary for me to work out and watch what I eat (and drink, the calories in booze add up!) in order to stay super toned and super thin. If I just eat and drink whatever I want, I am a good ten pounds heavier, but still slim.

She's intensely into ballet. I even saw a workout video once where she explains the dancer's ab workout. It's pretty inspiring.

Not to mention the Zone diet is UBER expensive. I could never afford it, but it would take a lot of the guesswork out of things if you had all your food premeasured and delivered to you. You barely have to try at all...just eat what they give you. I think a lot of celebs use the Zone because of that's convenient and you lose weight on it. Too bad most mere mortals can't afford to spend the $1000's of dollars per month that it costs.

i have seen these "tips" a millions times before, which most celebs claim they follow. I don't buy it, it's the same thing all the time.. don't go hungry, eat protein, watch your carbs blah blah blah.If only it was that simple.

another big thing she does to stay in shape is gymnastics workouts! ever tried them?? they are so much fun and one of the best total body workouts you will ever get :)

Hey, I know all of you are saying she's "born thin" which is probably true - but don't get confused - a lot of people are born thin but still have to work on staying thin later in life. There's only a VERY SMALL population that actually have problems losing too much weight. Everyone else who is born thin still has to watch what they eat and exercise because they are human too and calories in have to equal calories out or they will GAIN WEIGHT. Sorry, it's just a pet peeve of mine when people say "oh she was born thin"

Very recently, SJP was spotted smoking real cigarettes while not on the set of the film. It's okay if she struggles with an addiction (especially one so hard-wired in our brains, as studies are increasingly revealing); we've all got something.

Just an FYI: SJP had just quit smoking before her sex and the city days, when offered the role of carrie she almost turned it down because of the smoking. She had tried so hard and come so far. eventually the producers figured out a way to create "faux" cigs out of lettuce and other stuff. She has said they always smelled awful when she was filming a scene smoking. all in all, no SJP does not smoke and has not since before she started sex and the city! hope that helps! xo Kim

She had been a chain smoker. I think she quit but has smoked on and off for a while. Not sure if she is smoke-free now but hopefully she is. And she's mentioned in many interviews that she's genetically inclined to be thin plus has the financial ability to work out so us regular folks shouldn't compare ourselves to celebrities.

i dun think she smokes in real life, only as Carrie she smokes. anyway, yea, i agree, she is prolly born like that, some pple just dun get fat, lucky them.

I "overindulge" on salad a lot, actually. It never seems to show up on the scale, so that's a good thing. And I think SJP IS one of those genetically thin people...I wish I could be that lucky. I didn't know she was a smoker. That always bums me out when I find out an actress smokes to keep slim. It's such a copout.

I agree, a big part is genetics. she has always been really thin. Also SJP has always done A LOT of weightlifting. She's thin but very toned and muscular.

Drinking lots of water also so you don;t confuse hunger with thirst.

um, did she mention just being BORN THAT WAY? becuase that's what she is. she's always been so skinny that you can see her veins sticking out. those are all great tips though. :)
