While some may consider it a super scary workout, jumping on a trampoline is one of my favorite exercises of all time. Luckily, a brand-new trampoline park recently opened in San Francisco, and I got to check it out for myself. The House of Air indoor trampoline park is like nothing you've seen before. Comprised of three main areas, the House of Air calls an old airplane hangar home, and touches of airplane vernacular are found throughout (i.e. jumpers are called "flyers," staff are referred to as "air traffic controllers"). I got to test out three different areas: the Matrix, 42 conjoined trampolines spanning the entire width of the structure; the Colosseum, 22 conjoined trampolines set up for dodgeball and slam-dunk contests; and the Training Ground, three competition-grade trampolines with harnesses for the most intense aerial workouts.

The gym was started by extreme sports enthusiasts and snowboarders Paul McGeehan and Dave Schaeffer, who are incredibly enthusiastic about their new gym, which features fun touches like original ski lift chairs and historical details like a concrete roof — the former airplane hangar is located on a former San Francisco Army base. Each jumper is outfitted with a pair of wrestling shoes that offer both traction and ankle support. I jumped around for about an hour, and let me tell you — an hour of jumping on trampolines is no joke! I know I will be feeling it tomorrow.
The House of Air also plans to offer group fitness classes, including a mommy and me class and another class taught by a parkour instructor (I can't wait to test that one!). Rates are $14 for the first hour and $10 for each additional hour. I will certainly be back very soon!
