Sit ups vs. Push-ups?

We all have exercises we love to hate. When posed with the question of choosing a favorite between the mainstays of calisthenics, Lauren Conrad admitting to hating both sit ups and push-ups.

So tell me in a battle for your heart, which exercise do you love more?

Push-ups take less time. I love how fit I feel when I do a few sets.

Push-ups are crazy-hard, but I surprised myself by being able to do 5 of them with my hands balanced on a weight ball last month! I'm working up to being able to do 20, right now, it's about 7-10 regular push-ups and the rest with one the knees. But at least I'm trying!

I hate them both...but I don't do sit-ups, I do crunches. I can't do a regular pushup...I still do them on my knees.

I'd much rather do sit ups. Well, I need to just do both since my workout plan is nonexistent these days and my health is starting to really reflect it (I'm in bed again with a cold UGH!)

i hate sit ups from the bottom of my heart. but pushups are fun!

I love doing all kinds of different sit ups. I have a weak upper body so push ups are harder for me but when I do them, I feel stronger each time.

even though I think sit ups are better I prefer push ups

My arms are too weak for push ups yet! Now, are sit ups and crunches the same thing? I don't think I could actually sit all the way up (like in that photo up there) - I find it hard enough to get my shoulders off the ground during a crunch. :P

Hate them both. I should really try to do more push-ups though. My arms are not very toned

I love them both. I think push-ups are very effective. To do a full push-up correctly with proper form, it takes the whole body. I love it. I like to do repetitions and sets. I like to take it slow and deliberate to THOROUGHLY condition all my muscles. Love it.

I've got a weak right wrist so I tend to strain it when I do push ups, so I think sit-ups are easier by far.

For whatever reason, push ups have always been more challenging to me! I'd do a sit up anyday. I need to work on my upper body strength for sure!

I love push-ups! I like to do the tricep ones for a challenge (keep your arms beneath your shoulders and make sure your elbows go backwards instead of outward). Do about 10 of those and it's like doing 20 normal push-ups! I despise sit-ups, or any ab exercise.

I love doing them both, but I think I get better results from push-ups. There are much better exercises for your abs than sit-ups, so I don't do them very often. I'm trying to work up to doing 200 push-ups a day...currently, I can do about 100.

I love both, but push ups require entire body fitness, so technically while doing push ups you're still doing abs :-) I love the way toned arms look, and they're usually easier to come by than a six pack.

Pushups are one of the best exercises for working the ENTIRE upper body. Five years ago I used to do 300 pushups a day! I would perform six sets of twenty-five repetitions in the morning and six sets of twenty-five repetitions in the evening. I did this everyday without fail! I didn't touch the bench press or any other chest exercise. The only "weights" I lifted were for my arms. I can tell you unequivocally, the biggest I ever was as far as lean muscle mass was concerned, was when I did these pushups. My father tried a similar routine and didn't gain nearly the size that I did. Pushups just seemed to work for my body. Since then I have shied away from them and my physique reflects that. I am much stronger now but nowhere near as "big" as I was back then, so take it for whats its worth. Pushups are da bomb!

i'm a sit up girl so i have to vote for that one. i think that i think that i'm much weaker than i am, so i usually stay away from doing push ups.

I'm liking sit ups these days. I can't for the life of me do a decent push up. :( I will soon though, that's a goal.

I think I kind of prefer pushups just because I feel bored out of my mind if I try to do sit ups.
