Squats vs. Elbow Planks

We all have exercises we love and exercises we work hard to avoid. I have heard complaints about both squats and elbow planks. These two exercises are workout staples for me, and I must admit I love them both. In the battle for your heart, which exercise do you love more?

I'm a squat lover for life. I used to hate doing planks but after doing yoga, I can appreciate them more and they have gotten easier to do.

Squats I love, planks not so much... but it's mostly because I hate sitting still, regardless of how hard it's working my muscles.

Haha, squats and planks are what I go for when I'm feeling masochistic. Oh wait even better... plyo squats! Planks are good for building push-up endurance, though. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people don't use the correct push-up form (it's much, much harder to do it correctly).

Planks have taken me a while to get the hang of them. Now that I can do one without having my knees bent to the floor, I feel I can do anything. I haven't practiced squats as much, but they are a pain.

Love to hate and hate to love. Very effective, when I can get myself to do them, which is not often enough.

both. Planks because they do so much, squats because they don't do anything. Seriously I have NEVER been able to fatigue my leg muscles.. I think I could do squats for hours before feeling the burn. My legs are freakishly muscular.

I love squats! Although they burn like crazy, I prefer that kind of "pain" over the uncomfortable breathlessness you get in a plank. However, I am trying to do more planks thanks to the body benefits anyway!

I love squats, and not just the ol' regular ones. I like them when they're harder (with leg lifts for example or jumping squats). Planks and I have a love/hate relationship, but I do them anyway.

I love/hate them both...they both do some wonders on my body but can be painful to do over and over again.

Elbow planks RULE! Since I've started doing them, I've noticed MUCH more definition in my abs than I've ever seen before. Squats are fine, but I find I get more visible results from doing the elbow planks. If you want to make them REALLY hard, lift one foot off the ground and move your toe in circles. It will REALLY work your core!

I feel like this isn't a fair choice because they work such different groups. How about squats vs. lunges? plank vs. push up?

I love elbow planks, especially with the modification you posted about recently (going up to your hands and then back down to your elbows). That's my new favorite!

elbow planks are always harder for me because i have less upper body strength. but because they're so difficult, i always liked doing them more - harder work!
