an old friend of mine use to lift 1 lb. cans of food (green beans or corn) as weights for her arms. I have lost over 50 lbs at least three times in my life. I do have a thyriod problem. there use to be a show on called the 20 min. work out with all these pretty young ladys on in the late 70's. it was great i wish i had taped it. when I started I remember thinking I could only do 4 min. worth lol

I would love to win. I need one of these just to see if my heart is still beating.

i really love free weights too. it is easier to cheat on the machines (i've found) than with the free weights. mwmjuly19, i'm the same way, i only make suggestions to people I know or look like they would be open to it.

I love free weights, but I use the machines for a good leg circuit. I cringe when I see people with bad form on the machines, but I only make suggestions to elderly folks, who really seem open to help. Otherwise, I just shutup and hope a gym assistant will notice...I saw one woman who looked like she was going to bust her back on the ab machine. Poor thing.
