UK Loves Fast Food More Than US

Do You Agree With This Statement . . .

"I like the taste of fast food too much to give it up."

Surprisingly enough, the United States is not the country who takes the title of biggest fan of fast food in the world. In the United Kingdom, 45 percent of people agreed with the statement "I like the taste of fast food too much to give it up", compared to 44 percent in the US. Does that warrant a w00t, w00t? Well, it is only one percentage point but at least it is something.

Regardless, I am curious about you guys and how you would respond to the statement, so: "I like the taste of fast food too much to give it up" — agree or disagree?

Don't get me wrong... I LOVE In and Out Burger. But I only eat it once a month, if that. If you stop eating it, you stop craving it.

Fast food spells good but tastes aweful!

I've never been a huge fan of fast food, never excited for anything in particular... and when I lived in DC I really don't think I had any, since it wasn't everywhere it wasn't convenient... but now I'm living small town and there are very few restaurants and when the office goes out to lunch I go, and that is sometimes fast food. It is hard to just turn my back on it entirely, though I seriously recognize how good it would be to go in that direction and my new solution is to just go out when the office goes out and eat my own salads and home prepped food the rest of the time... and try to eat right (no fries!) when I do order fast food...

I don't consider subway fast it? And yes, I do love chick-fil-a. I go there less than I go to 5 Guys, which is still less than once a month (and I totally get waffle fries from chick because they are heaven dipped in polynesian sauce)

I can't give it up! I love a vegetarian I appreciate the consistency it provides as opposed to going to real restaurants and having to parse out every ingredient! I mean, I still love real restaurants, but Subway comes in so handy in a pinch, and sometimes I just crave that generic, consistent taste. However, as others mentioned, as a vegetarian you won't see me beating down the door to McDonald's or Chik-Filet any time soon...though I have been knowing to occasionally go to Taco Bell. Cooking at home is so much healthier and easier. I could give up all fast food except Subway, so I fail!

Foxie is right. Read Fast Food Nation and you'll never eat fast food again.

I just like the convenience of it, rather than the taste (save Chik-fil-A and Raising Cane's). Although, since I've moved away from my small town, out of my parents house, I have eaten wayyyyy less fast food. Since moving out over two y0ears ago, I've probab1ly had McDonalds less than 10 times.

Ew. The only fast food place I can handle is In-n-Out, and I don't even live in the same state as one, so I only go there very rarely. Every once in a while I'll end up getting dragged to a fast food place, usually if I'm traveling with someone, but I always regret letting myself get talked into it. It's not necessarily that the food is disgusting - although it often is - but it inevitably, shall we say, messes up my digestion. So no thanks.

"It smells and looks nasty... same goes for the people who eat it on a regular basis" Really? I don't think that my baked potato and oranges every day make me smell or look nasty at all. What an AWFUL generalization and thing to say. For everyone who says they just eat the salads - remember that often times those salads are worse for you than many other menu items. I was craving a salad yesterday and contemplated Quiznos. Then I looked up the nutrition info and just about had a coronary! Yikes.

I don't have a problem not eating fast food. In college, I ate it a lot. But, when I graduated and moved into a place with a kitchen I didn't go anymore. And the few times I did go to McDonald's, it really upset my stomach afterward!

I used to be a fast food junkie. I'm talking about having a McDonald's cheeseburger at least 3 times a week. In an effort to be healthy I gave it up and I didn't feel I was missing anything. About 2 years passed and I was stuck in an airport, stressed about a delayed flight and a wilted airport cafe salad wasn't going to cut it so I caved and got McDonalds and I'm not going to lie....It was awesome. About once or twice a year I splurge and get a cheeseburger happy meal because it takes me back to memories of being a kid. I think if you like the taste of something you should let yourself have it every once in a while.

Haven't eaten fast food save for a couple of McDonalds salads since the year 2000. It smells and looks nasty... same goes for the people who eat it on a regular basis.

I guess I'll be the only one to say that I do like the taste of fast food and I would not give it forever. But I don't have fast food on a regular basis, usually once every two weeks, when I'm at school and the stupid cafeteria closes early, it might be once or twice a week at the max. I do like the salt, but some of the food just really does taste good-- like the McDonald's Crispy Chicken Sandwich... it's very yummy. The breakfast food at most food places isn't that good though. But I don't see why ya'll are dissing fast food. Everything is alright in moderation. If you have fast food every so often, then you shouldn't be panicking about how many calories or how much fat the food has because you should be eating well and exercising enough to offset a Big Mac every two weeks. Just chill out, a Big Mac alone won't(shouldn't) send you to the gym. Its your overall lifestyle that matters.

It's funny. A couple of years ago I may have agreed with that, but lately...I will think I am craving a fast food burger or something...I will go get it...and either A) the place will screw it up and it turns me off to the food, or B) It just doesn't taste good or right. (This does NOT count for 5 Guys...their burgers are always spot on and to dies for--but i don't even go there monthly) I am not sure if this is because my brain is finally communicating to the rest of me that fast food is actually gross or if I am just becoming such a good cook at home that other food doesn't come close. ;-) Speaking of which, I have some prep work to do for tomorrow

It's not the taste, it's the convenience. As in, "I like the convenience of fast food too much to give it up." But only until my kids are a little older and I can cook without having to constantly watch them at the same time.

I hardly ever eat it anyway, but every once in a while (maybe twice a year) I do get a craving for Chicken McNuggets.

The only time we eat fast food is on long road trips maybe 2x/yr. Even then I get a salad.

i don't like it, but i am often so pressed for time and energy that i eat fast food. HOWEVER, if there were other options available (my own personal chef, for example), i doubt i would miss it much.

I really try not to eat fast food. I feel disgusting after I eat it. Once you create a healthy diet, when you eat anything other than pure food it just doesn't taste good anymore.

I very rarely eat fast food, and then it's usually a sandwich someplace. I don't think fast food is a taste choice for me it's a convicence/no other option thing for me.

i'll eat fast food on occasion, but the health factors of eating highly saturated foods with a lot of calories doesn't make sense to me. i can see why people eat it though. it's convenient.

I have a big night out about twice a year, and I eat fast food about twice a year too. Doesn't take a genius to work out the connection! Other than that, I'm not ever tempted. I'm a vegetarian too, so that makes it even easier. I love fresh food, and cooking, so the food I crave is my own homemade veggie dishes.
