Video of Gwyneth Paltrow's Iron Man 2 Workout For Legs From Tracy Anderson

Why Gwyneth Paltrow Feels Comfortable in Shorts

Given that so much of the world is in the midst of Iron Man 2 fever, there has been a lot of talk about how Gwyneth Paltrow got in shape for the movie. We already know that she put on 10 pounds of lean muscle to portray Tony Stark's devoted assistant Pepper Potts. In the latest GOOP newsletter, Gwyneth shares even more details about how she got there with trainer Tracy Anderson's help.

Tracy developed a "terrifically difficult leg series" for Gwyneth to follow that consists of a 26-minute mat workout. In addition to this leg series, Gwyneth also did 45 minutes of Tracy's dance cardio and arm series while filming the movie. But what was most difficult for the star was having to diet. Gwyneth has said several times that the reason she works out so intensely is so she can eat whatever she wants. In order to really ramp things up and drop her "Winter weight," Gwyneth went on a strict five-day diet that included fresh juices and smoothies, healthy wraps, kombucha, salad, and soup. Says Gwyneth, "This regime got me into the shape of my life and I continue to return to it when I have a specific event so that I can do ridiculous things like be a 37-year-old mother of two and wear shorts!"

While this is just a little tease of the leg series that Tracy developed for Gwyneth, the trainer is offering the entire video on her website for free.

Love these and I love all of her mat-work in general. I love that it targets muscles that aren't commonly reached through traditional strength training moves.

Says Gwyneth, "This regime got me into the shape of my life and I continue to return to it when I have a specific event so that I can do ridiculous things like be a 37-year-old mother of two and wear shorts!" wait, what??? Oh the horror, mothers wearing shorts!! How insulting, Gwynnie.

It is very fashionable to hate Gwyneth now, but she seems like a great mom and admits that she works hard. I actually liked the Tracy Anderson leg moves, but could do without the sexyface in the video.

I just went on her website to read about what she does...and holy...I don't think I'll survive that! She is a woman with strong will and determination to be working out like that and eating such a strict diet regimen. My hat's off for you, Gwyneth.

Her legs do look better...not that they were fat before, but with 10 lbs less muscle on her frame, her legs actually looked kind of scrawny. @tlsgirl--I think the reason her leg workout is tougher than her arm workout is because your legs weigh a lot more than your arms, so you have more resistance to work with. I thought TA's arm workouts were ridiculous as well, but I actually feel her leg workouts to some extent.

Oh and I might add it wasn't what the diet consisted of that turned me off (I love health foods), it was how little she ate.

I love Gwyneth Paltrow and I think she looks amazing but when I read her diet in Goop I was shocked she could do so much working out while eating practically nothing throughout the day. I'd be starving and no doubt grumpy if I followed that diet.

Runningesq - I don't think Gwyneth ever said that she was ever too fat to wear shorts before. That's just FitSugar's own spin on it.

Why Gwyneth Paltrow Can Feel Comfortable in Shorts Again -- I'm sorry, was she so fat and uncomfortable before?

tlsgirl - the arms work too you just have to do them right. Actually her arm workouts are the only thing I've found that works to really tone my whole arm well (for some reason when I used to do weighted exercises my biceps would get huge and the rest would be flabby). To do the arms effectively you have to think like a ballet dancer, really straighten your arms and send energy out through your fingers. If you really concentrate and do that, and do that just with standard arm circles, it really works!
I would actually do these. I'll try them today at the gym.

Okay, so I just did this video, and as much as I rip on Tracy for some of her comments, it was definitely hard. My legs are burning.

I'm not a Tracy Anderson fan, but I do love that Gwyneth is so open with people about her fitness and diet regimens. She probably pays Tracy more in a month than I make as an attorney in an entire year, but she's willing to share her workout programs with people for free, which I think is very nice of her. Also, I appreciate that she's open about what she eats when she goes on a diet, as opposed to being one of those celebrities who claim that they stay a size 0 by drinking water and doing light yoga.

Did this workout yesterday, its great. I love that they give this kind of thing out for free - I have like 4 of these from Goop that you can even download and take with you.

This makes me sad. I thought it was going to another insane-looking video like her arm series, but this actually looks kind of tough.
