Video of Timbuk2 CEO Mike Wallenfels Commuting 38 Miles to Work

This Guy Biked 38 Miles to Work — How Was Your Morning?

I could not have asked for a better Bike to Work Day: San Francisco has brand new bike lanes, I scored a new bag, and it was perfect bicycle weather. Best of all it reminded me that I should be biking to work every day, not just a few times a week like I do now. I was also reminded of this when I toured the Timbuk2 offices last week. Not only does CEO Mike Wallenfels ride 38 miles to work, three times a week, he's celebrating National Bike Month by doing the commute every day this month. My three-mile, 20-minute commute seems more than manageable compared to the two and a half hours it takes Mike to leave his home in Novato, cross the Golden Gate Bridge, and arrive at the Timbuk2 offices in San Francisco. Check out this (abridged!) video of Mike in action!

Wow, good for him! I would have to bike 27 miles each way to get to work, which I opted not to do.

Sorry in advance, but I just can't resist.... This post made me dig to find my blog post about my 50+ mile bike to work when I was working in San Jose. Turns out that a) it was my very first post to any sugar site b) it mentions bike to work day :) c) it was my last day of work before coming to work on the sugar stuff fuill time!

Is that 38 miles one way, or combined? Either way, good for him! I wonder when he has to get there. If I biked to work, it would take me about 2 hours, so (depending on the day) I would usually have to lave from 5-7am. I GUESS that's doable..... I still need a basket and a helmet first, though. Also, does he have a shower at work? That would help a lot too.

I'll bike when the weather's a little better - and when I'm done with my work event which requires me to haul a bunch of stuff right now.

wow. I'm amazed. if only I had the time and patience to do that sort of thing. I can't even bike the 6 miles to work from my place.
