WHO Motivates You the MOST to Workout?

I know you have a million reasons WHY you workout - to reach a weight goal, to tone your muscles, to relieve stress, to lower blood pressure, to keep you healthy, to help you sleep, to give you some alone time, to help you look good for an upcoming event, and it makes you feel good. Maybe you workout for ALL of those reasons.

That's awesome, but what I want to know is WHO gets you off the couch and out the door to actually do it? WHO gives you that kick in the pants to pull on your sports bra and sneaks?

I thought this would be a popular answer, but-- the women who teach classes at my gym. A woman who is 7 months pregnant led a bootcamp class this week and kicked my butt. And I'm always working to get as good at yoga as my instructor.

looking at myself in the mirror keeps me in check and surely motivates me ... i am currently in a state where i cannot exercise for health reasons but a recent glance at myself in the fitting room mirror reminded me that once the health issue is resolved i am back to the workouts!

I'm guessing this really isn't healthy but Adriana Lima motivates me. She has an amazing body but she's healthy, you can tell she doesn't starve herself. She's a swetie too! Jessica Simpson and Ellen Barett also motivate me. Non celebs too, seeing skinny pretty people makes me feel like a fat ass which makes me want to exercise.

Gosh, may I choose all of the above + FitSugar too?! I think what motivates me the most is when I see mature women who are in excellent shape.. if people can marathons at 90 years of age, so can I exercise to my limits and beyond!

Fitsugar, seeing myself in the mirror in better shape, media and my daughter all motivate me. Mostly though because I want to set a healthy example for Savannah and my bf.

Fitsugar, you definitely contribute a lot! I check this blog every day to see new tips. I think your advice is really starting to stick in my head, and I'm seeing a lot of changes in my habits. I don't think anything or anyone else motivates me more than the advice on this site, and the people who comment too! So thanks, members!

My BFF keeps me motivated. She's very active, so her love for working out rubs off on me. I love to workout, it's just I need motivation every now and then.

I like feeling strong and healthy, and I love having a lot of muscle tone. I want to be able to wear whatever I want without having to consider "figure flaws" too much. It makes getting ready and shopping for new clothes a snap!

At first I was motivated because of myself I just really needed to work out. Then as soon as I posted my diet plan here in Sugar people have commented encouraging comments so that motivated me as well. Also your postings Fit keeps in track and motivated. I've already lost 7 sevens pounds.

Knowing that I had to shell out big bucks motivates me to workout. It also helps that magazines keep on bombarding fit and toned women in their issues

It's mostly just me. I know I feel great, both physically and mentally when I exercise, so I kick myself in the pants and do it. Although, I do have a secondary motivation... I hate to miss some of my dance and yoga classes because I like seeing friends there.

It's a combination of things. Media and strangers since clothes do fit better on slender people and I want to look my best. Friends, since I've got 2 friends who are maranthon runners and they have the BEST bodies I have ever seen. Myself, because I know how good I feel after going to the gym. And my family since there are some health problems I just want to avoid, exercising and healthy eating may prevent them.

I've always been motivated in sports by wanting an award or achievement. Mostly I wanted to be a better athlete which meant putting in more work than the competition. Now, since I'm pregnant I stay motivated b/c it'll help baby and me stay fit while preg. and lose the weight faster post-preg. That and, I like feeling good in my clothes. I hate not feeling good in what I can wear.

Mostly its because I am a total foodie. Although, I eat healthy I still want to be able to splurge and have dessert and a cocktail. And the older I get the more aware I become of my families health issues, so I'm trying to head those off too if I can.

Although I motivate myself to exercise, it isn't from a sense of competition. I motivate myself, because I want to feel better, to live better, and to continue to grow in my fitness level. I get less colds, I feel less run down, and I sleep better. When I find an area in which I am weak, I work towards strengthening myself in that area.

I initially was motivated by a very good friend who had found a gym and started working out. She never pushed me to do anything, would just casually mention things she'd done. That was over a year ago. Now, I motivate myself to go. Also, I record my workouts on the website buckeyeoutdoors.com. Knowing that I cannot put in a workout motivates me to go to the gym sometimes. The strength that I've gained is also a good reason to keep it up. Endorphins? They are a pretty good incentive to workout too!

My sister lost almost 90 lbs through exercising and eating well, and she has gone from couch potato to 5K runner. On the days I don't feel like working out, she always reminds me of all the reasons why it's worth it to get off my butt.
