WalkJogRun Your Routes

Running the same routes over and over can become a bit of a drag. It's hard to come up with your own routes if you don't know how far it's going to be or how hard it's going to be (this one is key for those of us that live in hilly areas of the country). A new website has combined a running route planner and a distance/speed calculator all into one.

Not only does calculate how far your favorite routes are, but it also gives you route ideas that other users have created along with their distance and difficulty level. This is great if you've just moved into a new city, if you're traveling a lot, or even if you're just bored with your current routes. Definitely check it out at — I've already got my eye on a few interesting routes here in San Francisco.

I will have to try this. I usually use Gmaps pedometer, but this could be a good alternative. I need to find some new routes because I'm getting bored with my current ones.

is it better than mapmyrun? I've been using mapmyrun for more than a year and it keeps getting better.

I love this site! It's not that you can just look up routes. You can also create your own, and know how many miles it is as well as how long it should take and how many calories you can burn at a given speed/distance. You can make your routes private or public also. Which I like, because I don't want every nob in the world knowing what route I take, but some are scenic and would be nice for out of owners. It really is useful.

ditto, lintacious! How exactly is this site different from mapmyrun or any of the other sites (other than that these guys have sent you a press release ;) )? oh wait - I see - it's twice as slow and only does US & UK...

I have been looking for something like this. I need some new running routes, and I always wonder how long some of my favorite walks are.

well this is the same as and the 50000 other sites just like it. honestly i still use the Gmaps Pedometer because it is simple and i can just bookmark the link. maybe i dont live in a runner-friendly enough area because neither walkjogrun nor mapmyrun has come up with good running routes for me.
