Slumbering in a cave-like room can create deep sleep, but it doesn't help so much with the waking up. Before bed, slide open a curtain or open your blinds a bit to let some early-morning light in. Once the sun begins to rise, it will gently beam into your room, waking you up naturally and gradually. It's much more pleasant than waking up to a screaming alarm clock.
