Ways to Prevent Thigh Chafing

Follow These Simple Tips to Prevent Thigh Chafing

It happens to the best of us, especially during the hot Summer. You're working out or going for a jog around the block, and your thighs start rubbing together painfully. Before you know it, the chafing gets so irritating that you have to stop whatever activity you're doing and go inside to cool off.

It's a topic you probably don't bring up often with your friends because it may seem gross to talk about. But it's much more common than you think, so don't think you're the only one dealing with it. If you let it go unnoticed, thigh chafing can lead to damaged skin, an uncomfortable rash, and prolonged discomfort. Don't let yourself get to that point.

Luckily, there are some simple precautions you can take to prevent thigh chafing.

  1. Apply talcum powder to your thighs before you get dressed.
  2. Wear antichafing bandelettes.
  3. Use a relief gel or balm on your legs every morning.
  4. Make your own homemade lubricant using Vaseline, natural oils, and aloe.
  5. Whip up a turmeric paste to spread on your upper legs.
  6. Purchase a pair of bike shorts that provide extra coverage.
  7. Rub your deodorant on your inner thighs before going to the gym.

If you find that the problem persists even after you've tried many different remedies, don't be afraid to chat with your doctor about what steps you can take next. Remember there is no reason for you to suffer incessantly from thigh chafing, so reach out to a professional whenever you feel like you need the help.
