It's a very close call, but I have to go with sound. Sight is penultimately important in today's society and pretty much our most important for 90+ percent of our everyday stuff and entertainment (comp included). However, I couldn't live without sound. Touch... oh man, I'd miss touch. An embrace or a tap or even the wind or heat or cold or a nice hot bath (& bubbles? Oh, yeeah)- it would be so hard and even lonely at first. Life would be EXTREMELY hard and dangerous if you couldn't feel a thing. It's the most necessary for survival. However, sound wins my love. I'm naturally musically inclined and have a musical family, which increases its importance to me at the start. It's also amazing, when you realize it, what you can tell with sound. You can still easily identify who is where, as well as (sometimes even more clearly when it's all you can focus on) how they feel. You can tell where they are, how they are, what they're doing and everything else around them too. There's no more wind to feel, but you can still hear it whistle the crackled leaves. You can't see the concert but you can hear every trembling beat. You can hear the skies above you and the ground beneath you and truly be immersed in the world around you. Intimacy is still found in laughs or jokes, a certain lilt in a voice or song in your heart- or the sweet sultry nothings whispered right in to your ear which, said by that one, special voice to your heart, are worth everything in the world. Yeah, I'll stick with stereo.

Hearing! Am I the only one? There is no way I could live without music.

I'm afraid being blind would take more than just seeing away from me. I'd feel so helpless.

Tough one! It was definitely between sight and touch!

Sight, then taste. :)

I love food, which is why it kills me to say that taste & smell are probably the least necessary senses (relatively speaking of course!). At first I thought I'd be the most devastated about not having sight, but then again, I can't even fathom what it would be like to having no sense of touch.

It's a hard one. I almost said taste because it's such a joy, but it's a sense you use maybe 10%? 20% of your waking life? I'd certainly be pleased with less of a sense smell though. Intense odors are part of my migraine aura and it can be very unpleasant.

I had touch as my #1, but taste is probably just as important to me. I'm so into food and and appreciate the affection of loved ones so much that I think I'd fare better--emotionally, anyway--if I lost sight or hearing than my other senses. Plus, there has been a ton of technological innovation for those who are deaf or blind, so if I lost either of those senses, I'd try to get in touch with people of those communities.

I can't pick just one!!! Everyone is so important in my life. I have to be able to see, hear, touch and smell for my job and since I'm getting into gourmet foods now, taste is VERY important!

I couldn't imagine being without sight. I wouldn't be able to paint, draw, do my job, drive, or even use this website. I am also with someone else in that taste would be the last on my list...maybe I'd lose some weight.

Sight. I have very bad vision, very very bad vision and without my contacts, I would miss out on so much in life.

I can't pick one. There are so many beautiful thinks I don't want to not see, too many beautiful songs, too many wonderful hugs, too many smells, too many tastes. I can't imagine not having each and every one of them.
