Which Kind of Chocolate Do You Prefer?

In my house Valentine's Day is all about chocolate. If you're trying to eat healthy, you may only stick to eating an ounce or so of dark chocolate a day for the health benefits. Plus, just a taste of dark chocolate with over 70 percent cocoa is enough to satisfy my chocolate craving. Others don't share my love of dark chocolate and only eat milk chocolate, even if it's known to be less healthy. Since it's Valentine's Day, and we all have chocolate on our minds, tell me which type you prefer . . .

Dark for me too! I used to eat dark and milk, but I made a dedicated switch to dark a bit over a year ago and now milk doesn't interest me at all. I've never liked white very much. >_<

dark! i used to think milk chocolates taste better but now, after getting used to the flavor of dark ones, i like them more!

People really think about healthiness of chocolate? Come ON! It's called an indulgence for a reason, just freaking enjoy it.

if i do splurge it's usually with a small piece of dark chocolate. i don't know - i figure that it's going to ruin my diet so i should just stay away from chocolate all together but sometimes a little treat isn't too bad and dark has some nutritional benefits.

Dark chocolate all the way. I'm not super-picky about it being Belgian or whatever, but I did have some really great chocolate in Ukraine when I was there. I don't eat a lot of chocolate though, mostly because my husband doesn't eat it and I don't like that it has a lot of calories in it. I know it has antioxidants, but so does coffee and spinach and stuff like that.

I like all chocolate, but my favorite is actually white (even though I'm not sure it's actually chocolate at all).

Dark. I used to only like milk chocolate, but I've sort of trained myself to like dark recently. Belgian is definitely my favorite kind. Swiss, Cadbury, etc... they don't cut it for me.

Before they started toting dark chocolate as the "healthy" version I fell in love. Bitter chocolate is <3

Dark, especially dark Belgian. However, I don't eat chocolate anymore. I don't like the high sugar level.

Dark chocolate for sure, and the less sweet the better- but for the taste not the health! I agree with others, the health aspects are just an added benefit!

Belgian. Freaking pain killers.

No I haven't been to Poland or any of the countries you mentioned. But I have had Belgium and Swiss chocolate (my nephew bought it back from a trip he took two those two countries) and I didn't like either of them. Belgium chocolate has this weird aftertaste to me. I do like German and Mexican chocolate. But in general I am not a milk chocolate eater period. Milk chocolate has too much sugar in it and the chocolate taste is too diluted.

I adore dark chocolate for the intense flavor, and knowing of the antioxidants is an incentive to have more! :D Best chocolate in my book is Vosges. There flavors are so incredible!

It's hard to find dark chocolate that actually has anti-oxidants in it. Most has been Dutch processed or undergone other processing that destroys any benefit that might have been there. I've also noticed dark tends to be higher in fat than milk. I wonder why that is. It seems counter intuitive.

I love how there is no answer for "I don't like chocolate." It has to be "No, I don't eat it because of the calories." It is really difficult to not like chocolate in this world. Every event has a chocolate dessert, people are always foisting chocolate on you, and when you try to be polite about not wanting it and are pushed to finally say, "I just don't like it," people are so gobsmacked and often just rude about it. I don't give a shit about the calories - I don't like any of it because I simply don't like chocolate.

wackdoodle, you obviously have never been to Poland, Lithuania or Russia. That's were good chocolate is done. Sometimes better then Belgian. Of course you have to buy the expensive stuff. Sometimes I go there just for chocolate and cosmetics shopping :)
