Your Brain Before, After, and During an Early-Morning Workout

Oct 3 2015 - 2:00am

I love working out in the morning (when I can actually get up). It starts my day out on strong, energized notes, and it cuts most excuses out of the equation. However, waking up, heading to a group fitness class, then heading straight to the office can prove to be a little bit of a juggling act.

Packing your work bag the night before can be a little stressful. What are all the things I need for the next 14 hours?

Once you set your alarm, the anxiety sets in. Why can't I ever fall asleep when I need to be up early?

It's 6 a.m. already?! Did I even sleep?

Why does getting out of bed always have to be so hard?

Definitely stayed under the covers for too long. Now it's time to rush like a crazy person to my class.

Once you head to class, the lights are blinding. Is it always so bright in this studio?

Why didn't I make time for coffee? I could really use a little boost right now.

Why are all these people talking so loudly? Don't they know it's early?

OK, I'm here, and I'm here to sweat. Let's get this started.

Now I remember. Working out in the morning is awesome.

I could have slept but I got my ass out of bed and made myself a priority. This girl is on fire.

In dire need of a fan. I need to cool off before heading into that crazy locker room . . .

How many people are supposed to be in here at once?! What is happening? Why is this so hard?

Why am I still sweating? Why is my face so red? I just showered!

So fresh, so clean. Now time to grab my three bags and run to the train.

I made it! And damn I feel good. Today is going to be awesome.
