When it comes to working out, every minute counts — especially when you're already pressed for time. But there's a right way and a wrong way to save time on a workout. When trying to fit exercise into your busy schedule, don't cut the warmup short.

Warming up before a cold-weather workout is especially important, since icy temps keep muscles tight; working out without a proper warmup can worsen your performance and lead to injury. And don't think you should just warm up during your normal everyday runs — establishing a routine for warming up muscles during your weekend ski trip or before yoga class is important too. Whenever you are active this Winter, make sure you spend a few minutes jogging in place, doing a dynamic warmup, or otherwise raising your heart rate and warming muscles slowly.
