Are You Drinking Soda?

With soda sales down this year, reports say that folks are turning towards water and enhanced waters and teas before soda — yipee! Me, I am not and never will be a soda kind of girl. However, there are folks out there that still are drinking it despite the health risks, so what about you?

I don;t like the way soda testes anymore. I think it's because I don;t like the High fructose Corn syrup. The other day I did have a Mexican coke with a Middle Eastern Mixed Grill. It was delicious. I try to stick with tea and water though since losing over 100 pounds and dropping 10 dress sizes so far. :)

I know it is terrible for me, yet I drink at least one diet soda a day. It is definitely my health food weakness. I am a vegetarian who eats organic foods, stays away from processed ones, avoids white flour, refined sugar, all that. Yet I have the hardest time giving up soda. I think maybe because I was never allowed to have it as a kid.

I never drink soda! I will drink diet snapple iced tea also their cranberry/raspberry drinks..delish!

Very rarely. Usually it's only when I'm dining out and they have a good root beer on the menu. I love me a good root beer now and then. The only other occasion is when my tummy is upset, and I'll have a small glass of ginger ale. But I don't drink sodas on a regular basis. Water, tea, coffee and homemade lemonade in the summer are my staples.

I remember reading someone's comments on drinking energy drinks such as Gatorade and Powerade. Remember, those sports drinks are worse for your teeth than Coca-Cola.

I stopped drinking soda in November because i think it is ruining my teeth. I do miss it and the only time i really have a problem with not drinking it is when i eat pizza. You have to drink soda with pizza! Diet soda is really bad for you, you are better off drinking regular soda. Fake sugar can make you gain more weight than real sugar. It's very unhealthy.

I used to drink a TON of soda and never thought I could quit. I quit about six months ago, but haven't noticed much of a difference in my body. Now I only have it in cocktails (which are infrequent).

The only time I ever have soda is when I'm out for drinks with the girls. I find sweet, sugary drinks dangerous for the belly and head!! haha. Instead I tend to drink a couple rye and ginger ale. But that's maybe one night a month at the very most.

Every once in a while I will have a diet caffeine free soda, but that isn't that often. As a treat I'll have like a diet 7up or sprite zero. It's more like a snack.

Funny, I decided to give up soda for Lent this year, it was the best decision I ever made. I never dranked it during the week but on the weekend I would drink a liter. I feel so much better now.

i try to stick to water during the week. i used to drink soda every day with lunch and dinner, but now i try to limit the soda to weekends. i've dropped a couple pounds since limiting it.

I feel like it, I will drink a soda. Its not like one every once in awhile will kill you. But I try not to.

I have a root beer every so often (a month or so). But I mainly drink water, coffee, and milk.

I gave up Pepsi years ago and am a better person for it LOL! It was starting to wear down the enamel on my teeth, plus I was gaining weight. Now I consume water 99% of the time, and an occasional G2 Gatorage( which contains a whooping 70 calories per 20 ounce bottle). Soda itself doesn't make you gain weight, it's the calories in versus calories out which MUST be attended to at all times. You can drink soda AND still lose weight, however an allowance in your diet must be made to accomodate said soda. Remove 150 calories from your food intake and you will not gain weight. However, the sugar content DOES wreak havoc on your glucose level, which as you probably know, stimulates your appetite. Miniminze the fluctuations in your blood sugar and you'll keep the hunger pangs at bay! That said it is easier to accomplish that by NOT drinking soda.

At work, we always have soda. It sucks because the only water source is tap water and it tastes like sulfer. I should really bring my own water but I always bring coffee instead. AHHH

nikipez--Exactly...those research studies always use ludicrous amounts of the substance tested to make absolutely sure it's safe for human consumption. 400 liters of diet soda a day for several years in a row would probably not be a good idea, but it's far from realistic. As for diet soda being "no better than regular", I beg to differ on that note. Regular soda contains HFCS and various acids (phosphoric, carbonic, etc.). The acids cause the HFCS to form carbonyls which are partially responsible for creating insulin resistance in people.

I am ADDICTED to soda. I am a self-proclaimed diet cokehead. I know I should give it up, but I dont think I ever truly will. At least I started drinking diet coke plus with vitamins..
