Racing season has officially begun and there are so many types of events to participate in. Training for a race is the ultimate workout motivator, whether you're training for an Iron Man or a 5k, a sprint tri or a marathon. What I want to know is . . .

Two sprint triatholons as well as a 2.4 mile ocean swim, 1 mile ocean swim, and I hope a 5 mile ocean swim throughout the summer. I wish it was always summer. I need to move! :)

Did a 10k a month ago, did a 10k today, got a 10k on 10th may, one on 7th june, one on 12th july, a 10 miler on 29th august and the great north run (half marathon) on sept 20th... so a few :)

Achilles tendinitis is slowing me down big time not sure if I´ll be doing a half marathon in May :( For the book, water running is really hard on a manicure!

Yep. I plan on participating in the Crim (Flint, Michigan). This will be my very first run, but the race has several levels to choose from so I think I'll do well at one of the beginner levels.

Not sure if there are any swimmers out there in Bay area. But I would like to recommend the following 2 events:- (1) CCSB (Catfish Crawl South Bay) - this is an open water swim in Steven Creek Reservoir. There's a 1.2 mile and a 2.4 mile race on the same day. And if you are strong enough, you can sign up to swim both 1.2 mile and 2.4 mile race. The 1.2 mile swim start at 8:00 am and the 2.4 mile race start at 8:45 am. Water is nice and clean, not wetsuit required. This will be the 4th year for me, I did a 1.2 mile for the first year, and then 2.4 mile for the next 2 years. (2) SERC Alcatraz Invitational Swim - This is another Open water swim. It is a very cool event. You first take a boat and to Alcatraz, and then you jumped off from the boat and swim back to the Aquatic Park. There's division for wetsuit and skin (non-wetsuit swimmer).

kia - I am so happy that my group got picked this year for NWM. I did not get pick last year though. BTW, I was told that if you are with TNT, you can join NWM even if you did not get pick from the lottery. mands10 - good luck to you too! I am running the same event with a bunch of coworkers (I registered for the full marathon, and some of my coworkers register for the half)

I was training for a marathon that's in May, but I got such terrible shin splints, that I had to start my running back up from scratch. Maybe next year, though!

Sigh, I didn't get a Nike Women's bib (good luck to you mands10!) but will do the Denver Half that same weekend. For now I am training for a 1/2 in early May, then the Bolder Boulder 10K on Memorial Day, and the Aflac IronGirl 5K in August.

Haha this is funny to me Fit that you say racing season has begun . . . well I live/run in Houston and my racing season just ended! From now til October I will be working on speed and endurance training to drop time for the first half-marathons of our racing season which is from Oct-March . . . since last October I did 6 races, 4 half-marathons, a 10miler and one 25K . . . so my last race was on 03/14 and I'm taking a break now while everyone else just starts racing!!

i'm running a 10-miler this sunday- not quite sure i'm ready for it- i'll finish but it won't be too fast. i'm also training for the Dublin Marathon in October

I'm not training for anything specific, but I am trying to get back into running. I've been eyeing a few 5Ks but haven't signed up for anything, since Apr-May is a crazy time for me. Might sign up for something later in the summer. I'm trying to do a 3 miler at least once a week, so I should be prepared for a 5K.
